Easy win for Vettel after an excellent pole position. Can't be overtaken on the straight and they'll pull Leclerc in to force Hamilton to pit too early. Poor quali from Leclerc too.
in the race with no DRS but lewis having DRS in 3 parts of the track will offset the advantage
moreover the tyre degradation on ferrari were not good, so they could be overtaken, especially in a track like this

Doubt the Mercs will have a shot tomorrow. Ferrari has the speed and strategical advantage with Bottas having a shocker.

This looks liked a nailed on 1-3, potentially 1-2 for Ferrari.
ferrari and stratergy dont go together :D
Yeah, I just meant they were gifted a 2-1 advantage with Bottas out of position, unless LEC is penalized.

Mercedes has the edge on long runs and by a fair bit too.
They definitely do, it'll just be hard to use it because Bottas is out of position. Ferrari can do all sorts of stuff with LEC to frustrate Lewis and let VET drive away.

If Ferrari are somehow as terrible on their tire deg as they were in FP, then that's another story. Going to be way hotter tomorrow, too.

Nah, the data from Friday was way skewed. I don't think there's anything in between them, but I favor Ferrari since they have the strategy advantage, especially if Leclerc jumps Hamilton.
what stratergy advantage?? coz mercs ran only 3 laps in their race in q2 unlike ferrari with 5 laps
No it's because it's Ferrari 1-3 vs Mercedes 2-6

Bottas/Mercedes Vs Ricciardo/Renault=No problems
Bottas/Mercedes Vs Gasly/RedBull=No problems.

I think you are overplaying how out of step Bottas is going to be.

Crazy how people are ruling Mercedes out after the long run pace they showed on Friday.

Off topic question- How does Lewis maintain that hairstyle? Is it not uncomfortable with a helmet on? And it must hurt as well. Not that I would know since I have little left but there's a storm on his head for sure.

Vettel wins, Hamilton second or third (behind Leclerc)? Hamilton will be ok with that as he's fighting his team mate.

Vettel's out lap + pole lap.

VET is in prime position to cruise into the distance. Even if Ferrari has poor tire management, it's much easier to protect the tires out in the clean air of P1. Tomorrow is "damage limitation" for Mercedes, in my opinion.

A lot will depend on the start. In the meantime, I know you're a pretty big VET fan and it's been a long time since he's been on pole, so I believe congratulations are in order! Pretty darn good lap.

What are you talking about?
This is not Monaco, people can actually overtake here... how can Vettel drive off in to distance with the poor race pace than the mercs?

Ferrari with a bigger rear wing than Mercedes, but still faster on the straights.
What surprised me was that Vettel was just half a tenth shy of Hamilton’s time in sector 1.
DRS deletes the rear wing on the 2 long straights

Very very happy for Vettel. Nice one abd very good job. Still think Lewis might win this - there long run pace i think will be better. But i wouldnt mind a Vettel/Ferrari win.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Assuming nothing major happens on the first lap to shake things up, the key for Ferrari will be to try and get Bottas out of Leclerc's pit window. I suspect it'll be down to how quickly Bottas can get past Ricciardo.

Although, on the topic of the first lap, Leclerc is on the clean side of the grid and both 4th and 5th are on the grippier rubber.
