So, what are Ferrari doing? Just expressing their indignation?

Another strange decision from the Ferrari leadership. Waste of time....
yeah, because if they do get it reviewed the FIA will look at all data and It could actually get worse for Vettel.
"my foot slipped"
I don't think that would work.

Loved Vettel's switching the numbers around lol.

Shows he hasn't outgrown his petulance, but still, funny.

Also, interesting to see he can still be forced into a mistake like that by a relentless pursuer.
Is it funny though or cringey?
Also could be thought of as bringing disrepute to the sport, a punishable offense.

Also , people earlier in comments here who kepts called FIA a pro Mercedes group and calling F1 as Formula-Mercedes and Formula-Hamilton should really try to learn the facts and read this maybe:

Ok, it was a little cringeworthy, but mostly funny.

Don’t forget, Ferrari and Vettel are under constant pressure from the press. By appealing they can maybe be the victim.

Not: “Ferrari failed again” but “FIA takes Vettel’s victory” as a headline tomorrow.

Yeah, think you hit the nail on the head there. Forgot that Ferrari tried to appeal a time penalty for Vettel before (think it was Mexico '16) and it was denied.

Mario Andretti disagrees with the decision. Check his twitter. Jenson Button disagrees also.

Both of them need to keep themselves in the spotlight so they're not forgotten!

not to mention in spite of what several people here are saying the rules take precedence over the "show" or "racing".

The new regulations were changed to allow cars to be able to follow close behind without suffering mass degradation to their tires. The regulations certainly have achieved that, we saw at least two dozen laps of in or near DRS range head to head and we haven't seen that in the sport in a long time. It's still very difficult for cars to overtake unless they have a significant pace advantage, a couple of tenths isn't doing it. It's a shame things turns out the way they did, I firmly we'd be heralding this as a career drive from Vettel had he kept control. Instead the memories will be of the fiasco aftermath.

Interesting thing to note, it was really a momentary thing, something lapsed in Vettel and he went off, there really were no mistakes outside of that incident. I think it can only be attributed to Hamilton's relentless pressure. Vettel even had enough left to put in a fastest lap after the incident.

Yup exactly. The fake news narration will continue as it has sway with some fans.

People have commented here that the penalty was too harsh. I disagree. It wasn't harsh enough perhaps.
We would do well to remember what happened to Schumacher in 1997 when he was stripped of ALL his points and basically banned from the championship ladder for this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=001m8vW9-fs
And here's the text of the story:
https://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns01331.html

Vettel has done more than enough over the past couple of years to imitate his "role model" and has gotten off way too lightly. And this has emboldened some of the fans too, who exhibit bad behavior.

@Tag,

It was the dirty air of the car in front. Hamilton's pressure + dirty air = not good for Seb.

Both of them are put into a position where they can give their opinion. They are entitled to do so. I don't care about their personal motivations. You either agree with them, or you don't. For the rest it's whether they bring a decent argument to the table or not.
