Scuderia Ferrari SF90

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

What has changed in the diffuser? I think its the same since the beginning of the season.
Lower photo shows RB type treatment gurney. Upper photo shows a different shape particularly at outside edges.

Inner section as well. Look at the crash structure. About the strakes underneath: were the gills there already?

Wasn’t it reported that they were going to bring updates step by step, starting with a new front wing only in France?
Different front wing, floor and diffuser in combination is quite a substantial change.

The FW change was a pretty substantial one. The other updates seem like tweaks designed to work in conjunction with the new FW; the precursors to, perhaps, bigger changes (if the updates for this weekend work as expected).

The last slot got smaller again(no longer goes the full length of the tire), Ferrari keeps going back and forth on that one the last few seasons.

The diffuser change seems like a more delicate stay, should let the air flow more easily in between the elements.

Is this diffuser asymmetric?

No, the bit we see 'head on' on the left is seen only side-on on the right, ie. at about that lighter coloured crease where the arrow points, it seems to bend to the front/outside a bit, and then bends down again, as you also see very well from the side on the right, with the three 'flaps/gurneys' sticking out like sicles.

The second strakes from the centreline seem to be different. But probably you are right because I do not see any gain in having such an asymmetry in the diffuser.

What is with the carbon fibre patchwork on the widest black element, beneath the Ferrari logo? is it to allow to insert something there? You think is possible to insert a strain gauge to measure the wing deflection?

How were they so relaxed about showing the underside of the floor? :)

Seems Ferrari stole Rambo's army knife and bent it a little bit.
