Ooooh sh!t...here we go again! Eddie was right after all...!

Should have been a Mercedes customer since 2018...Renault has lost Mclaren so many points, Lando's 5th at Spa being the worst one (or was it Mclaren's 30 year old hydraulics problem there??), not to mention the grid penalties!

iirc current rules does not allow this.
Only if a team will "sell" its contract with Mercedes

From Motorsport.com

Article 8.3 of F1's Sporting Regulations states: "A major car manufacturer may not directly or indirectly supply engines for more than three teams of two cars each without the consent of the FIA."

This means that if the supply rules stay the same, Mercedes will either have to ask permission from the FIA for the McLaren deal to happen, or to be able to supply its own team from 2021.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

The rules do allow it,I believe. But, FIA’s permission is needed to supply more than 3 teams (including the factory outfit)

Has Racing Point renewed their contract with Mercedes? If not and Mclaren closes theirs first, then they would have to ask the FIA for permission to also supply RP (or RP will need to use Renault engines).

To be honest, I’ve been mostly happy with Renault so far and what they’ve done, especially this year. But I admit, I’ve been concerned about them “keeping up”, say like for next year. They recovered well in 2016, but couldn’t maintain that promise. We don’t know how things will go, but I’d sooner bet on Mercedes catching Ferrari than Renault.

Renault has brought and developed a good engine this season... But, Mercedes is definitely still a more proven commodity and probably gives more peace of mind in terms of performance and reliability.

The engines are converging, I wouldn’t expect much difference between them in 2021.

Lots of mention about a possible wet qualifying and long run focus makes me think the team might entirely favour a race setup if they think dry one-lap pace would be irrelevant.

Seidl:
There is rain around tomorrow and we’ll have to take our opportunities as they present themselves, but the information gathered today will be useful for what should be a dry race.”

2021 has entirely new regs.
