When was the last time they had a car within 1 sec on typical track conditions?

Still amazing of how much progress they made this year.
Demonstrates the importance of getting the distance between the front wheels and floor large enough doesn’t it  =D>

Both Lando and Carlos stating that the wind helped them today... But it will turn around tomorrow (same direction as it blew in FP2) and expect to struggle a bit because of it.

Good positions to start the race tomorrow... As always, hoping for a clean getaway.

Renault obviously think he’s worth more value to them than Mclaren did. Mclaren wanted him to stay and offered him a role but obviously the wages Renault offered or the position in the management structure were higher.
It’s a shame. Credit is given to Pat for the start we had this year and it would be nice to have seen him carrying on his work with the team but Andrea Stella is still with Mclaren so hopefully he and the new guys can push us into the top 3

With the arrival of James Key, I’m afraid Pat was a little redundant.

Good signing by Renault, but McLaren didn't want two captains on their ship.

Long gone of the days of the well known and well established McLaren engineers...or at least in the mainstream media anyway. Anyhow I imagine whilst Fry played a role in this years car....there are lots of other guys and girls who were just as significant or important albeit are not house held names or well established to date.

Hopefully Seidl and Key can keep this momentum into the winter for next years car design

So Pete Machin is out at Renault, any takers? Obviously things didn’t work out well for him there, but does anyone think he would be worth bringing on, is there any space for him at all? I think it was always in the plan for Fry to be short term, but I hoped he’d be kept on as the Engineering Director, replacing Morris.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

In all honestly I don’t know to much about him, however was he not at red bull for a duration who were and are always very good aerodynamically. Surely he would’ve worked with Peter Prodromou, so maybe if he is good and worth having he would recommend?

He’s certainly worth taking onboard but whether he wants to work under Prodromou, who he knows very well, having come from a head of aerodynamics position is another question.

Lack of ultimate downforce summed up well through turns 5 and 6 relative to the top teams who are flat through 5 and have a lift in 6 whilst Sainz has to lift through 5 and brake through 6.

The car looks beautifully balanced through those corners. Carlos didn’t need too many steering corrections. I hope we can build from this in the race, even though the wind will have changed.
