For me, it was his collision with Max (and subsequent behaviour) that set the alarm bells truly ringing. I can understand fighting extra hard with your teammate particularly when you’re establishing your place in F1, but tipping someone you aren’t racing with off the road while trying to unlap yourself - and then showing no learning or remorse - is to me not the action of someone who has a bright future in F1.

Also demanding $4m to drive for Williams when he had no other options indicates he isn’t exactly overburdened with humility. Eddie Irvine Mk II
It was Max's stupidity and ego that didn't allow a faster car behind him to unlap and then close the door. It's not the first time that a lapped car was unlapping in F1. Ocon asked his team before that move and the team gave a go ahead. Knowing the stakes and driving to the situation is what Max could have displayed better and he suffered for the lack of that understanding.
we now could discuss this topic again.... but final conclusion might be .....

They were both at fault in this situation, Ocon shouldn't have to overtake (the car ahead of him was to far away to have a change to overtake) so either he could have stayed behind or do the pvertake on another spot (and not turn 2)
Verstappen could have given more room, but ppl tend to forgett that, when you get overtaken, you lose time (around 1,5s) and losing DF which would have cost him even more time ..... this said conclusion is, both were at fault somehow

100% Max's fault

But $4M is rediculous if he actually asked for that.

I'd have said there was fault on both sides, but the onus must surely be on the driver unlapping himself to pass in such a way that does not impede the leader. And the fact that it was Max should have given Ocon advance notice that he wouldn't be given a ton of room.

Makes sense that Renault would want a French driver. I also think they have a bit of a blind spot towards Ocon as he was 'their' driver before he moved to the Merc junior programme. I personally wouldn't have him in my team, but then I'm an ex-journo keyboard warrior whose sole racing management success is with my dog...

What team did your dog race for? What category? Did he win anything?

He’s a privateer, and he won a race at his first competitive event, the Charity Sprint last weekend.

I wanted to name him Sergey Sirotkin, but my other half objected

So Hulkenberg is without a seat in 2020 and out of F1

Gutted for Hulkenberg, he would have made an excellent number 2 for any top team.

Technically he could still be in at Williams, could he not? Technically - because I know it's probably Latifi's seat, but unless I missed it I dont recall seeing a Williams announcement.

Hulk himself said he is not interested in Williams.

RIP the dream... Still. Remember when Caterham was adamant that Trulli would drive for them that year, and even drove a couple of preseason tests? Only for them to announce (forgot who) will drive for them in that season instead?

Hulk himself said he is not interested in Williams.
He put it a little more diplomatically than that...

“I think they need somebody else,” Hulkenberg said. “I think I’m not the right person, the right driver for them. Not (about money) at all, it’s just where I am in my career, where they are, and the timings, I just don’t think it’s the right timing for us. With all due respect to the team, and obviously I’ve raced for them and everything, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.”

https://racer.com/2019/11/04/not-the-ri ... ulkenberg/

He doesn’t actually sound especially keen to remain in F1. Maybe with no realistic prospect of a top drive, he’d rather race somewhere he can win?

“Of course I could (still achieve more),” he said. “But it doesn’t feel like unfinished business, because I’ve done my business, I’ve performed well over the years, very consistently, many times when it was on the verge or other people didn’t get hired or get a job, I still was wanted and hired and paid to drive. That also speaks for some quality.

“Of course I would like to have a different kind of record, more points and podiums and victories, but yeah, I know the reasons why, and why maybe things didn’t go that way. I’m at peace with myself there. I sleep well at night with my eyes closed. I’d love to continue racing, but if not, then life goes on.”

I think it's foolish to dismiss Williams with 2021 rules reset and a budget cap any team could be in contention for great things. Maybe Hulk thinks he all great and wonderful but personally I can't remember any stand out race he ever done like Max in Brazil 2016 or Kobayashi in Suzuka 2010 and 2012

Hi All,

Is there any chance Alonso can Join Ferrari 2020 to stop Hamilton. I don't see any other driver in F1 can stop him.

Max -> Short Temper no maturity earning lot of enemies in F1 recently Ferrari
Ricciardo -> good driver but he does not have "that" extra thing to win F1 Championship.
Lecrec -> similar to max but he will to spoke much openly. Need to mold

Who else can stop Hamilton in Mercedes. I think only Alonso. I am still hopping he can join Ferrari in 2020 if Vettel retired by this year like Rosberg or Move to RB.
