Red Bull pilot Max Verstappen believes that in terms of power, the Honda engine is still inferior to the Ferrari and Mercedes engines.

“This year, the reliability of the Honda engine was at a high level, because we practically did not have any gatherings related to the power unit,” says Verstappen. - For a Japanese company, this is a big breakthrough. What did we miss? Power. We need more power, and I hope that in 2020 we will get it. ”

The article isn't correct. It starts with: "Verstappen says Honda engine lacks power." Click bait title.
Max praised the engine en said now the car must be improved, so it suits every circuit.

Our Honda power is top, Max is also top so now we have to deliver a good chassis. At the moment we are two weeks ahead of our schedule. It goes better than ever before.Helmut Marko

Honda's attention to detail has impressed Verstappen.

"What was very important compared to what we have before was the reliability.

"This year, we've never retired because of a Honda issue. If you want to fight for a world championship, that is what you need. So I am very, very impressed with the way they are working.

"I really love working with them because they are people of not too many words – and that's exactly like me! – but very focused on what they have to do.

"I just really, really enjoy working with them. They are very professional.

"It's also about how the wires connect on to the engine, the stickers matching the other stickers, for what is connected on the engine [going] to the wire, which is then connecting that [next bit].

"It's little things, but for me it's so important. It's detail, attention to detail, which needs to be there."

"It's the first time the engine is running on the test bench 14 days earlier than usual," explained Helmut Marko.

I'm asking Sakura on the Japan side to focus on some key points to improve. We learned a lot.

"On the other hand, reliability is not perfect enough this year, but our reliability is getting much better since last year. It means we can develop positive items, not a countermeasure test or bench test.

I think Honda has solved all the minor problems of the past year. They can compete for the championship next year,
as long as RBR has a winning car ready in Australia.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year. While I try and answer all your PM's, this year has been very difficult personally so if I did not answer your PM, I hope you understand.

In terms of Honda, I feel they have been fairly transparent. Since many of you have asked about the Spec 5 not being introduced this season, there have been several reasons for this. Strategy, taking a very conservative approach with 2020 in mind and the gearbox have all led to the people with much higher ranking than me making the decision to hold off. Overall, I think 2019 can be called a successful year for Honda.

Thank you for all your kind PM's. I will be involved indirectly with Honda for the next two years plus, but nothing to do with F1. I hope everyone has a healthy, peaceful and satisfying 2020.
