I like the 3 engine plan, which means Honda are pretty confident with not just reliability, but the power level they’ll start the year with. I see it as they don’t need to plan for numerous upgrades, as they’re no longer expect to be chasing their competitors. They would have factored in and projected/estimated the kind of gains Mercedes and Ferrari will possibly make over the winter and believe they can match that, and therefore will follow the normal upgrade route. I think, like Marko said, Mercedes biggest advantage is the tyres. Hopefully, Red Bull can catch them on that as well.
Or they believe the gains will come from somewhere other than the ICE? Reading between the lines of some reports they seem to be looking at fuel.

Better fuel needs power unit modifications to get the most out of it.

Agree, but they have 2 'updated' units to do the mod on.

Is anyone feeling the fairytale of a Honda F1 Championship coming together in 2020?

Fully integrated, co designed car.
Size0/Jet Propulsion/MGUh/k lessons learned.
Brilliant tactical team.
At least one Tier 1 driver, possibly 2.

Odds are good, I'd say, of a WCC.

I'm personally hoping beyond hope that the excruciating, public pain of catching up has taught Honda things that the others missed, and they have finally built the best engine on the grid. I hope they show up, and hang 75hp on the field.

They would deserve that fairytale to come true for them.

That's assuming there's not another major sponsor taking aston martin's place in team name in 2021.

Another sponsor is not a problem, the main issue was having an unrelated auto manufacturer as sponsor and distracting from Red Bull Honda.

Would be good to see Honda more prominent in the livery going forward.

TEAM STATEMENT: ASTON MARTIN TITLE PARTNERSHIP

FRI 31.01.20

Following the Aston Martin Lagonda announcement earlier today, the Team can confirm that the manufacturer will remain title partner until the end of the 2020 season but this contract will not be extended past the end of the current term.

Red Bull Racing has agreed to release Aston Martin from its Formula One exclusivity clause which in turn has allowed it to generate the necessary investment required to re-finance and pursue alternative opportunities within the sport.

I know the RB-Statement.
My question was more towards the earlier release of AM from the contract. At least my understanding is it‘s earlier than has been defined in the contract.

Edit: oops, I haven‘t read the statement correctly. The current term would have ended at the end of 2020. So it‘s clear for me now.

Hahah what a coincidence that they post this now. Looking forward to testing, particularly week 2. Keep an eye on the lines they take, you can easily add half a second to your lap just taking bad lines.
