Red Bull RB16 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Sidepods / engine cover is quite different than RB15's. There is a strong shadow line visible from the halo /citrix logo to the double l's of Red Bull logo. Looks super tight

Nice little wings next to the S-duct too; So far, the cars are converging in their approach.
They had them last year as well
Oh, didn't remember them looking like that, but indeed the ones in Brazil (for example) are quite similar.

in the past i used to fear the rb launches, their cars looked out of this world compared to their competitors, not so any more, i have to say, it will be good no doubt!, winning a few gps, it has its slim sidepod trademarks and intriguin design details, but terrifying like back in the days, it dont look, bear in mind im not judging performance! Im sure will be good. Its redbull so

Is it me or is the nose more slender? It looks like a taper (bit like merc) near the S duct. The sponsor names (pirelli, citrix etc) have no margin to the sides.

I see what you mean, you might well be right - that might also fit with it now having the cape on the outside, so that a nose as wide as possible isn't necessarily the best choice any more.

The sidepods are almost copied from last year. Definitely not the final version. The packaging is super tight. Somewhat bulkier above the "ed" part of Red Bull logo but way slimmer above the "Bull" part. Probably better airflow to the diffuser.
