Racing Point RP20 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Development is a funny thing. A lot of it depends on the potential of the car. A lot of it also depends on the timing, and how big the flaw on the car you are correcting through development is. If you have a lot of small easily correctable flaws, as the 2019 RP had, then progress will be more noticeable.

On the other hand, if you're trying to squeeze water from a stone, progress won't be as easy to notice.

Most of the pace improvements still come from the power unit. The aero is so complex, that even guided by CFD and good aero engineers, there is still a fair bit of trial and error involved.

RP has passed all crash tests according to this report:

And apparently 3 teams left to pass crash tests.

This team was on some occasions the 4th fastest car, and they'll likely improve a great deal over last year. 4th best will be closely fought all year.

Not sure if this meant big performance improvement in 'RP20' or just overall financial health of team -

Launch happening at BWT base, does that mean SportPesa aren't title sponsors anymore?

Well Sport Pesa is a just a sports betting page. Not sure they have a facility worthwhile of a launch.

Probably not, but I would still be surprised if the main sponsor gave permission to launch at a lesser sponsor location and take the limelight whilst paying less. Maybe BWT making the most of their sponsorship power before Aston Martin come in and presumably remove them?
