Anyone got any actual news on that? Last I read the season may start in Bahrain?

Everyone remember the fires? Seems to have been lost in the COVID fog.

As I understand it there's been rain and cooler temperatures and it seems the worst is past.

Highly doubt the Aus GP will be impacted by either this or the virus.

I just got back from NSW helping with the fires and as far as NSW goes the fires are no longer an issue. Most are out or in the final stages of being put out. No smoke in Melbourne when I flew back and from what I saw working in NSW the fires in Victoria were in a similar state. I am completely confident the fires wont impact F1.

All it needs is the Australian Department of Health or whoever to impose quarantine on travellers from Italy and the race is off. The news seems to be they might do that, or they might not

Why should the race be off then? Fans from Italy would be in an unlucky position, but that alone is not a reason to not run the race.

Ferrari aren't there yet or their engines or Alfa or Pirelli

Just force everyone from the affected teams to get swabbed and get on with the show ...

Binotto was all dramatic and said they would not participate in any races where they'd quarantine their personnel, if what he said about Ferrari's performance is true he'd probably love for the first races to be cancelled, less races they can lose points at ...

Can we imagine the outcry from Ferrari if the race goes ahead without them present?

But then what about the teams that did turn up? They'd also cry foul if it as cancelled just because Ferrari weren't there.

I reckon precedent would apply and the race would continue without the teams that didn't make it. No different to the Indy 2005 F1 race really.

Pirelli could be a bigger problem than Ferrari

All teams were present at Indy 2005 and nobody was avoided to run their cars.
A lot of cars were equipped with tyres which were not able to last for the race if used at their maximum and so after the formation lap they decided to retire.
This is what I remember. Sorry if it is not, but if it is correct it doesn't seem to me that the coronavirus quarantine is comparable to Indy 2005 events at all.

Isn't the F1 tyre factory based in Turkey or Romania or somewhere else that isn't Italy?

I think so, but more a question of where the techs are from

The organization could easily ask for a health declaration of all staff and personnel attending the F1 Grand Prix. So they put the costs at the teams and keep their program.

I don't think it's about cost, if you're talking monetary value?
The problem is of course, the virus has a 0-27 day incubation period and the staff will be here in 10 days, give or take...
Originally I didn't think the Oz GP would be affected, but we're all getting a bit jittery down here...
