How many people like to read blogs here? I don't. Some posters think these threads are meant to write blogs.

Well those who indeed want to write blogs, please talk to Mods, they have a different place holder for good articles.

Exciting news in a non-existent season!

I'm thinking McLaren might pull a rabbit out of the hat next season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ferrari flounder a bit after Vettel leaves.

I wish Sainz all the best, but if it was my career, I think I'd bet on Zak Brown's McLaren over Ferrari.
I don't think they'll be at Mercedes' level, but I wouldn't be surprised if they can hang with RBR.

Seb could go to Renault however. :)

It would be the best choice for Renault if they can't get Alonso.
If he wants to Renault :D "dreamed about it from childhood" or something like that in interview later :D
He dreamt about the red stuff, as did Fernando and we all know how it worked out for them. Heck, 6 world titles between them and all with Renault engines and not one with the mighty reds.
That is an astute observation :-)

One would be fact. Vettel to Mercedes would bring more advertising for Mercedes than 1 or even 2 titles in the next 2 years. At least in the short term. That's how it feels to me.

How? Not sure Mercedes needs headlines of "Vettel spins, again, when in close racing with X", especially if the X is his team mate...

Vettel is not even worshiped in his own country and he doesn't even do social media to give back to the teams. Talk about being a bandit. (according to Frank Williams, drivers are bandits!). I want him to come to Mercedes because I loved the high tensions and conspiracy theories of Lewis versus German driver in German team, but I know if it happens it would be a wahsout.

It's funny. Having recently moved from Austria to England, you wouldn't believe how different the reporting is on Vettel / Hamilton in the two countries.

I can therefor agree with both of you. What a world we live in!

I moved here thinking BBC was a pillar of neutrality and composure, don't even get me started about what I think now :wtf:

It is compared to many news outlets. It's funny but I tend to find that those on the right think the BBC is left wing / communist, those on the left thinks it favours the right way too much. That suggests that they've got it about right. =D>

Hahaha, understand that.

What they write is good enough, what they choose to write or not write about was what surprised me. I guess I had unattainable hopes that they would be the beacon of neutrality and confidence.

They are state owned, so their primary raison d’etre is to manufacture consent. Still, it’s so much better than the garbage we have here.

But their F1 reporting is awful. Hamilton king, Alonso/Vettel bad.

the BBC exists because we have a majoritist electoral system but people are too sensitive for that system
majoritist meaning when one side gets elected the other side doesn't
(plus we don't have an elected head of state)

unlike proportionally representative and preferentialist electoral systems which never produce a clear result
or give disproportionate power to minority parties (as in today's Israel or 1930s Germany)

From my point of view BBC F1 reporting seems to be like the rest of the maintstream British media.... Build you up and break you down. Hamilton is a darling now.... But a few years ago they were ripping him to shreads... And a few few years before thay he was the second coming and the anti-Christ at the same time! So I dunno what to think with Brisith Media sometimes.

But how awesome would it be for F1 if we had Vettel in a Mercedes alongside Hamilton?

The promotional copy would practically write itself.

Personally id also would like to see vettel and Hamilton at merc. Only issue is where would bottas go unless he can get the Renault seat. Lewis shouldn’t shy away from one more challenge and I do think by and large that he would be able to be vettel, and they seem to be getting along more in recent years.
