IRC is dead. Long live Discord chat

Post

All,

After a year of little to no in-quali and in-race chat, we're back this year. Our previous IRC channel is out of use, and instead, we have set up a Discord server (all credits to Vyssion for pointing that one out).

Advantages over IRC:
  • Ability to post images and use smilies
  • We've got multiple channels (chatboxes) available on our server (we'll use #general-chat for race chats). Check them out!
  • Discord can be used from within our live racing hub (as guest), but also through the app or website
  • Growing platform, modern technology
You'll be able to join as a guest at https://www.f1technical.net/live/ , but you may as well join directly through
https://discord.gg/Jc5X7yn

Feel free to check it out. Looking forward to your feedback!

There are some voice channels set up as well.
We'll see how everything unfolds.

Also, just like before, please use the same nickname on discord as in the forum.

To do this, click the F1 Technical drop down in the top left on the discord server and then select [Change Nickname]. This should only change it for that server.

Started to sign up but I manage to get myself in enough trouble on the forum.

Would be interesting to know what the policy is ... IRC was always 'free for all, all swear words allowed get it out of the system so it doesn't end up in the race thread'-zone ... can your forum account get in trouble for "misbehaving" on discord? what's the worst that can happen?
