Notable F1 names you tend to forget

Post

Notable drivers hard for me to recall in a quiz:

Michele Alboreto
Rene Arnoux
Jack Brabham
Heinz-Harald Frentzen
Denny Hulme
Jacky Ickx
Jacques Laffite
Bruce McLaren
Ricardo Patresse
Clay Regazonni
Carlos Reuteman
Jody Sheckter

What are yours?

Any reason why you always forget about them?

For me... Correct me if I'm wrong folks.

Jack Brabham. - Australian? Won WDC in his own cars.. Won 1 or was it 2 WDC? Known as "Jack Black"? Or something like that for his black hair.

Frentzen... - a promising rookie who Kimi fans seem to like for some reason. I hear he was sort of quick? I have no memory of which cars be drove. Maybe a Sauber?

Jacky Ickx -... Is this the one that won WDC pothumously?

Deny Hulme - Some champion guy. I think he won for Ferrari?

Patresse - Nigel Mansell's beating stick at Williams.

Regazzoni - a swiss with an italian name and very nice mouthstache. I heard he was very quick.

Carlos Reuteman.... I have no idea what car he drove, how he looked or what he achieved. But i like how Murray Walker calls his name.

Jody sheckter.. I know him well as a Ferrari champion of the seventies. South African. Wooly hair. His daughter died from drug overdose. But I cant seem to recall him when I do driver quizzes for some reason.

You're a racing fan and don't know who Jacky Ickx is? Won the 24 Hours of Le Mans six times and had eight wins and 25 podium finishes in F1......... and is still alive. Damn.

And, a fellow countryman of mine, the best Belgian ever in F1, and an unbelievably charismastic and friendly person!

The one posthumously become champion was Jochen Rindt, after getting killed in free practice at Monza in 1970.

Alboreto meanwhile was a well respected F1 and Ferrari driver, but he too got killed in a sportcar test after his Formula One retirement, therefore also listed in our "deadly crashed F1 drivers" list: https://www.f1technical.net/articles/12773

I know he is a top F1 driver - who or what he looks like or what he did exactly, I just never bothered to read his history. F1 media doesn't mention him enough It seems. He is alive too?!! Oh well.

Just to add;I realized I mix him up with Jochen Rindt for some reason!

I was always a Watson fan. I was at the 1982 Detroit GP he won, beating team mate Lauda who crashed out but did comment on the drive in his book 'The Art and Science of Grand Prix Driving' expressing amazement at Watson's passing ability. Memorable also as I had press and photo passes and could go anywhere..... I was in the press area prior to the race and talked with an English journalist who asked me who I thought would win; when I answered Watson he looked at me like I was crazy, as Watson had qualified 17th. I guess I got the last laugh though!

Listening to James Hunt viciously attack Andrea "Decrasheris" used to be tremendous fun back in the day.

I still remember very clearly the day I heard that James Hunt had died. It was an immediate loss and I thought "I'm really, REALLY going to miss him."

Boy has that proven to be true.

I'm sorry but I don't know how any F1 fan cannot be familiar will all the names on that list.
Sir John Arthur Brabham, AO, OBE was indeed an Australian with I'm pretty sure 3 WDCs. The stories I have read say he was called "Black Jack" because of his very some say overly aggressive driving style.
Not trying to be rude. I'm just truly surprised.

Well, you might be curious.

Edited to add: Sorry strad, my error. I read too quickly and misunderstood. Please accept an apology!

Drivers that were quick, but never got a proper chance they deserved:

Stefano Modena
Mark Blundell
Bertrand Gachot
Marc Surer
Eddie Cheever
JJ Lehto
Derek Warvick
Pierluigi Martini

And Bunch of Footwork/Arrows drivers...
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows
