Amazing, after Abu Dhabi 2018, I would never have believed Fred would be back. He’ll be a couple of months shy of 40 when he returns, but I think he can still be competitive. Does anybody know if he comes with sponsorship?
Hopefully he could bring some onboard. But I'm thinking he'll have the same setup as he had with Mclaren, with his Kimoa branding plastered on the car.
I wouldn't be surprised if he comes with some sponsor form the Liberty Global portfolio, like Ziggo, O2 or Virgin.

I just looked outside, pigs are flying and there is ice at the entrance to hell...

On a serious note, I hope Alonso can bring Renault closer to the front. I haven't seen evidence of it, but I hope he hasn't lost it yet.

From all indications, Liberty really wanted him back in F1. So I guess it’s possible.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

No offense but no one gives a crap about Renault Vs Honda road cars. That's a billion miles away from what Alonso is doing and how manufacturers perform in F1.
Why would you cheer for Renault if you don't drive a Renaultsport (or Alpine or Dacia or Lada) or why would you cheer for Honda if you don't drive a Type R (or S2000 or ride a Fireblade or Hornet)? :wtf: :wtf:

The whole reason they are in F1 is to promote the quality and meticulous attention to detail of the road cars, after all right?

If not for the road car tie-in -- regardless of mass production vs prototype, the road car should still be made with the same care and attention-to-detail -- then what the heck is the point of racing in F1!? :wtf: #-o

Racing in F1 is definitely a marketing exercise... But you don’t need to drive a car related to a brand to be a fan of their Formula 1 team... Also, how good a Formula 1 car isn’t related to how good their road cars are, they are unrelated.

Finally, let’s remember that not all Formula 1 teams are road car manufacturers, there has been a trend towards it in the last few years, but there always more “Private Teams” than “Works” teams in the grid.

So according to the rules the 2021 Cars are pretty much the 2020 Cars right?

So why not have Alonso now.... at the track learning watching and just plain hanging out.

But when its time to do testing and all that stuff and even a free practice here and there (give him Ricciardos car)
let Alonso take the wheel... F*** It give him Ricciardos car every Friday let Alonso get up to speed. Screw it Alonso for FP1 would be awesome.... Im being a Fanboy tho.... sorry.

They could just replace Ocon with Alonso straight away! :D

Ocon might not be too impressed though...

I can't believe Freddy comes back to F1 simply to join the likes of Renault! No need to return to the sport if that's the seat he's going to get. He won't be doing much of anything except getting overtaken by pretty much everyone.

Also, what is going on at Ferrari? They sign the likes of Carlos Sainz but not Freddy!?

Fred would have been the perfect mentor to Charles LeClerc and provided a much stronger 1-2 punch than Sainz is capable of.

All the key people at Ferrari who got in a feud with Alonso are long gone now anyway.

As a Ferrari fan, makes me annoyed.

Ferrari is completely lost anyways. As for Renault getting Alonso in the car already, I can't see how this could happen. Replacing Ocon isn't an option imo, he just got to drive after eagerly waiting in the background. The only way is probably if Vettel decides to go earlier and then the domino starts but this would need all the teams to agree on that, so not any chance really. Also, I'm not sure if Alonso would want to drive this year anyways, I guess ideally he would want to get straight into the new regulations. Plus he may wanna do some other stuff apart from Indy 500 this year.

WHAT IF.

Ferrari is a chapter done that does not show ANY potential for Fernando to have a different second run.
He had a second run with Mclaren and it did not work.
Renault has been his success history.

WHAT IF Toto Wolff and Adrian Newey go to Renault and that's why Alonso is joining 2021 to go with a WDC car for 2022?

Do you think Wolff and Newey would get on with eachother? I don't think I would risk that.
