The following Nations are yellow =
Malaysia, Russia Brazil is a pale yellow

With The following having a hint of a secondary color
Cuba and Sweden Cuba with a black hood and Sweden with the bottom half of their car blue.
Mexico is "Gold" with a Royal Blue X that does not have to be necessarily on the bonnet.
the US colors are blue with white racing stripes. Which is why Shelby looked how it looked.
Mexico's drivers used to race in Gold mixed with Stripes for the colors of their teams. So Mexico has to be gold not yellow? and also instead of the Royal Blue X they used stripes using the colors of the Constructors .
So i don't think Lotus, Mercedes, or anyone using black need to ask permission from the Kiwis to use black.
If you had to get permission to use Yellow you'd have to ask 5 different Auto Racing Associations. Brazil Cuba Malaysia ect.

Yeah, colour hues allow for many variations, but for black, apart from gloss-to-matte,
or other special finishes such as metallic/pearlescent - black is black - anything less is grey.
