Red Bull RB16

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They got rid of the s-shaped RW end plate slots

Not sure if they got rid of it.

It might cost total downforce, which you need every scrap off.
They might not have had a high DF wing ready with these slots.
They might need to strengthen them (they totally broke on both cars) and might need to check the gains of a strengthened version overnew).

For now i mean...on the picture above. What is the purpose of these slots by the way?

Probably they dont have spares. The whole endplate is the old version.

They bleed air through the end plate, intended purpose? Probably more consistent performance from the car.

Max' RW has the slots, Albon is without. Seems they are comparing performance (FP1)

Not sure if this has been posted, but the flex on the rear wing is absolutely crazy !

Exactly as you'd want it if you're a team.

Anyone else amused at how much monkey-see-monkey-do there still is at this level?

Obviously they need to make the concept work with their design, but still

Are you just posting generic comments to gain the ability to vote? You're being very vague and unspecific.

And your post is more valuable? Maybe you get extra votes for being a hall monitor?

1) I didn't even know that was a thing here. I could care less
2) Check my previous posts
3) If you watch the evolution of a season, you see teams emulating the successful ones. While this seems like a d'uh statement, it is still amusing. Would Redbull have come up on their concept on their own, or now having seen Mercedes did a "ohhhh" moment and have found how that set up can work within their design.

Mercedes had the design on W10 and have it on W11. So yes, copied by RedBull.
