Ok, so no American mere mass-production machine can match a McLaren, or a Gordon Murray,
(Even if Bruce's mighty CANAM sports-racers did run Chev-power) but IMO...
GM Chevrolet's Corvette is an amazing machine, & on so many levels, from the
very fact of its continued existence in GM Corporate's line-up over the decades,
to its curious combination of 'plastic-fantastic' style & 'Detroit V8' basics, up through
Le Mans winning speed & endurance.
For those decrying the mighty 'vette as a primitive 'live axle' machine, well FYI,
they've been IRS since way back in`63, (when Corvair was 'a poor mans' turbo-Porsche too),
& to be fair, while a DOHC 4V was offered, the upgraded pushrod 2V has proved better value.
