I agree it was a good lap by LEC.LM10 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:29Amazing job by Leclerc and overall pretty decent job by Ferrari. Only 1 tenth slower than Max and 4 tenths faster than the W10 with a significantly more powerful PU.
Slimmest rear wing of the entire grid on the Ferrari, trying to decrease the problems they have, but Charles still manages to lock out second row. You could have not done it any better than that. This is where one of the big differences between him and Vettel lies. Seb - besides having quite an unlucky weekend - struggles way too much when he's not comfortable.
That has never been the case for Silverstone. It's not a track hard on rears. We're talking about just two slow corners T4 & T17 and they're so far away seperated. Usually when we're talking about saving tyres in quali, it's two connected sectors.NathanOlder wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:17Turn 1 is pretty fast, but I was referring to protecting the rear tyres in turns 3 4 and 5. So you maybe have better rears for the final 3 corners.yelistener wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:05S1 is not the place to save the tyres. No high speed corners to damage them. Turn 1 & 2 flatout anyway so dont count.
I wonder how much they carried from last year? Yesterday's performance was appalling for their standards.KiLLu12258 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:29we know that mercedes had temperature problems with the engine last year.
Also williams was so far away that it was likely they make a jump.
...but Charles still manages to take 4th place.SF Engineer wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:32I agree it was a good lap by LEC.LM10 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:29Amazing job by Leclerc and overall pretty decent job by Ferrari. However, a single car cannot lock out a row...
absolutely. But year after year they say they are better prepared for the season. Its like a joke.f1316 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:33And ultimately, as bad as the Ferrari is by their own standards, it’s no worse than the Red Bull - you could argue the chassis is performing better given how down on power all the Ferrari engined cars seem to be .
Odd to me that no one ever talks about a crisis at Red Bull given their budget.
I mean, what defines the "best"?... It is certainly, by far the fastest ever (and there's a strange possibility that it'll remain the fastest for a very long time to come, if not even forever).
RedBull is literally more and more pathetic for money invested vs results. And no one gives them not even 5% of the agro that Ferrari gets.KiLLu12258 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:36absolutely. The Renault engine qualifying mode has also seriously improved.
I don't think that's the case, you cant work on aero of 2022 until after the first race of 2021 its in the regulations.foxmulder_ms wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 16:20Bravo to Merc+Lewis. They were the only team who worked on their 2020 car's development Others have been spending their development money on 2021 (now, 2022) cars, I guess. LOVING it!!
about time, what's this their 7th iteration of the Hybrid PU with alleged 1000 horsepower?
