Actually I was thinking the other day a few RB drivers seem to have/had a 3 in their number. It's not a lucky number in Austria or Thailand is it?

Max - 33
Albon - 23
Ricciardo - 3

Well RIC picked 3 because of being a fan of Dale Earnhardt. I suspect Max said I'm twice as good as that guy, give me 33. (to be clear, I'm joking, I have no idea if Max actually said/thought such a thing)

Ghehe, I do think they took 33 as Ricciardo was 3. Nice to have. Likely for that same reason Albon took 23.

No idea about any of the reasoning, except indeed why Ricciardo took 3.

Max used 33 back in his karting days, I think. Generally the drivers have used numbers that they had back in the day at the start of their careers, unless an existing F1 already had that number by the time they arrived in F1.

Not that I know of. I do know Max would use 1 should he ever become a WDC. is first outings in F1 (2014 FP) he used 38. 33 in use at that time? He was also VES back then as VERgne was still active in F1.

Every team has a free number for FP1 outings. 38 was designated to STR. Any driver in that car during an FP1 session would have used that number.

Maybe Alex likes Basketball because he's tall? Michael Jordan was #23.

Alex uses 23 because it is 46/2. He is (like Norris, hence his number 4) a big fan of MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi!

It is indeed the number Ver used in his karting days as just a fan already pointed out:

https://www.formule1.nl/nieuws/max-vers ... nummer-33/ (Dutch)

and

3 is his favorite number but was already taken by Ric.

The drivers choose the numbers though, not the teams, so no lol. Isn't Gasly 10? Seb is 5, although he only spent 1 year in RB after becoming "5" and he used the number 1 as reigning champion

gasly is 10 indeed. 23 +10 = 33

Or Maybe 33 - 10 = 23 would suit better.
