So it's safe to say, Mercedes stopped using the Party Mode from Spain itself, allowing the competition to come closer and made it look like the competition has made progress. TD kicks in, Mercedes moves forward again. I had a feeling they would go back to one second faster in quali, which they are (considering they never went for tow).

It's not difficult to stay a few seconds behind.

Anyway it looks as though Hamilton received a tow so very poor of Merc if you ask me.

I find it very hard to believe Bottas chose to go first.

Merc take it in turns every weekend who goes out first - always have. Lewis and Nico used to pick straws at the start of the season. Presume its still the same.

Stop looking for something thats not there.
If Bottas chose to go first then he can only blame himself seeing as Hamilton benefited from a tow.

Hamilton looked to have massive pace and was on for a mid 18 but had a poor last sector.
I dont believe Lewis benefitted from a tow. If he wanted an advantage, he would have been much closer. I think Merc knew they were well out front , so just said to their drivers, go out first, no tow, 2nd driver drops far enough back.

And now teams like RedBull have lost extra power modes in races. Where as Mercedes have now probably just turned their wick up slightly for races to use up theIr extra build strength during the race.

Seems bottas doesn't want the tow either....
Unfortunately number 2 drivers don't get the choice at Merc. 😉😁
Bottas had the tow last weekend. It was hams turn this race. Next week bottas will get it again

Merc still used Strat 2 today. I assume they changed its parameters though.

Lewis distance to Bottas was the entire stretch from Ascari to Parabolica ... doubt there was much of a useful slipstream there ...

Bottas insinuated that he did as did Button.

Anyway it shouldn't have been this close in the end, Lewis had bags of pace in hand but had a poor S3.

It could have been Bottas turn to pick and he picked first, or it could have been Hamiltons pick and he picked second

It was reported that it was Bottas turn to decide.

Wolff went on to say that they didn’t push the engine today so they could use more power in the race tomorrow.

Everyone at Merc including the drivers are rubbing salt in to the the wounds of RB and rightly so. 😂

Remember back in the day red bull with renault was complaining not having party mode, now they invested so much in it and not allowed to use it
