How is that we keep getting these ideas to reduce the technical and innovation quality of F1? What is the purpose of removing technology advancement and reducing costs? In an economically struggling world, at the least these activities provide jobs to a number of engineers. What are big automobile corporations going to do with those saved dollars? For them to enhance the quality of automobile releasing from their labs to consumers, they need innovation to come from somewhere and F1 is breeding ground for such experiments, besides being a racing series.

F1 was always expected to be a cut above the rest of the racing series in terms of technology and innovation in motor racing. There are so many cheaper racing series around that can satiate the hunger for close racing and all that with basic cars. Why pull down F1 to that level and take away a technologically advancing series? Why does F1 need struggling low budget teams who come for the sake of making some advertisement dollars?

In MotoGP there's no telemetry (data with only plugging in) and no radio, a few rows of text messages are allowed. Rider is in charge of everything on track and that's the way it should be in F1.

They have already added messaging to the bike and as the evolution continues, they might add more such technology addons.

Is this not to save weight and bulk as much as any other reason?

I've long wanted a ban on teams having access to car data from Friday morning through to Sunday night.
My question is, does this just escalate costs and increase the advantages of the big teams? After all they'll be the teams most able to try and real-time simulate the performances on track and attempt to get simulated data for what they can't directly access...
Irrespective of this answer, I still want the teams and drivers working without data for the weekend. Especially tyre temps and pressures.
They should be allowed data, they just can’t have access to it until after the session or they can’t relay it to the driver while on track.

No matter what you do, the most well funded teams should be at the front. They could race soap box cars and Mercedes would still likely be at the front. Winning is a mindset and the best use of your resources, which Mercedes does.
IMHO there should be no radio communication from pit to car (only board messages) and no data send in both direction over the air. So until the car is on the track no data can be downloaded, but once it returns to the pit data can be downloaded. This should increment the unpredictability and pilots will have to drive alone and solve issues by themselves as they used to do.
I agree, at least the driver should not have access to advice from the team while driving (except pit boards) and the team shouldn’t know how the car is performing. I’d like it to be extended through the weekend, but at minimum, don’t allow the car to send data to the pits.

They won't allow more even if it is possible because they don't want to turn it into F1. They could easily have radio and data transfer. It's not about weight or technology but the sport. Even the text message was controversial. Additionally they have warnings, flags and penalties on the dash.
