Red Bull RB5

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

With the way the endplates flare out at back, this could very well make the RA5's diffuser very efficient. Yet another great take on the rules. =D>

I'm wondering if other teams don't already have this in the works though as everyone seems to agree that the rear of the cars seems very basic so far. The RB5 though does look good given the rule changes.

It looks the ducks nuts - beautiful looking car - hopefully as quick as it looks for Webbo and Vettel :)

I bet Newey has an even more unique rear diffuser design hiding there than Williams + it joins the rear wing end plates!

Btw, did you folks notice the massive rear wing element created using the horizontal surface connecting the rear wing to the gearbox?

It has so much detail, just out of interest which car designer is the most successful directly after a major rule change? Newey just looks like he has found every little tweak. I can't wait to see it in action.

Do they "join" the diffuser though? We can't see...

There are so many little details. That front wing is unbelievably complex compared to others efforts. I'm loving the variation on this years cars.

I fail to spot the exhaust pipes. How is this supposed to work?

I didn't expect Newey to dissapoint. :)
Those "horns" look like just little humps from the front, but if you look at them from an angle, they go back beyond the driver and meet the sidepods. Very good use of chanelling air to the rear of the car.
All I can say about the front wing is awesome, and I'll comment once I work out what it's doing.

They are not visible from that angle, look at pics taken from above.

So, the rear suspension looks like it is deDion

I'm probably wrong but the rear end of RB5 is radical! Just what we expected from Newey....

Early 90's style "minskirt" on the front wing too. Anyone else spot it?
EDIT: Not showing us the back yet are they!

From this angle it look like you can make out the upper and lower wishbones - from the other angle there appears an extra linkage ?

Look how tight the rear body work is =P~

The nose, front suspension and airbox is similar to the McLaren, the rest is pure Newey.
