I'm going for it!!
I watched the win wearing my brand new AT hat especially for this occasion!

(also: does anyone know where to get decent honda F1 merchandise)
I've searched for it before, but couldn't find anything, at least not Honda F1 Racing clothing.

http://goods.honda.co.jp/shop/default.aspx should have some AT RB HondaF1 gear eventually that the Honda personnel wear, but I was only able to find last year's shirts Tanabe and Yamamoto wore at the Suzuka Circuit Gift Shop, and it was the last one. I will submit a question if they will have it and if international shipping is possible in the feedback form.

The above Url was for one of the Honda F1 Staff Replica shirt, but it is discontinued. I will find out if any 2020 staff gear is available at Suzuka. Yamamoto said in the interview that they should be released by Honda Comtech, but yes they are ASICS branded apparel.

then why RB failed? It is pure luck it is one off.
The pitstop before the safety car was luck. The performance after the red flag was just that, pure performance. Stroll and Bottas did not win, neither did Sainz or Norris. A Honda powered car led 25/53 laps to the end, with no tow, no overheating. There is a saying that success is 99% preparation. SAT quietly went on with their business and prepared well, including long run pace with Daniil, so credit goes where credit is due. But it wasn't going unnoticed since even McLaren and RedBull drivers saw SATs pace. That last 1% is execution. It's not a surprise since it is their home turf. Similar to RedBull at Silverstone2, Honda felt their teams would be able to fight for the podium. I almost said before the race that the only way Honda could do better for AT after acknowledging the 50races and thanks for STR and Tost for partnering with Honda was to better the P2 and P3 podiums with a win but I didn't want to jinx them, so I didn't. Honda PU just won at the Temple of Speed, in a very Honda way. Not in straightline drag race speed but making up for it in the corners.
will see in next race. In my point of view, the over taking is very difficult in Monza as F1 banned enginemodes. You can see that in the race, the drivers are struggling to overtake people in front of them. I still feel it is a one off from Honda.

Check the first few laps where the RB and Alpha? did they over took any one? Max,Albon even Gazzly struggled right?

If Meclaren or Renault in front, the samething happened. So, Don't judge using one race. We will come to know where Honda in coming races.

Very nice words from Yamamoto, Managing Director of Honda F1 about AlphaTauri and Gasly (Guthrie :) ).

Interesting article comparing AT01 with RB15 and RB16.

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/arti ... itHBr.html

A comment which caught my attention was this:
“The outboard-loaded wing gives some very interesting numbers in the wind tunnel,” revealed the team’s technical director Jody Egginton last year, “but for us, it was too peaky. We couldn’t get it to work with the same consistency.”
Certainly reminds me of the RB16 :)

Look who's judging... You're the one who said it's one off. What are you doing in this thread anyway? Blaming engine modes for SATs win? Mercedes had this in the bag right? Surely Bottas could have won since Hamilton was out of the picture. Instead it looked like the story the Rabbit and the Turtle.
And Sainz had the benefit of the tow and also 2 DRS zones at the end, but it wasn't enough to get passed the "inferior" Honda PU was it.

Another interview with Yamamoto. Very similar to his comments in Wouter's link.

https://www.as-web.jp/f1/621939?all

What he does mention here though is the fact that Alpha Tauri being registered as Scuderia Alpha Tauri Honda means a lot to Honda. As many here have pointed out, it does seem that their relationship is on a different level than the one with RBR. It's clear that Honda feel much more highly regarded by SATH than by AMRBR as they are treated as proper partners.

The fact that so many of the upper echelons at Honda sent their congratulations is proof for this. I feel that if there was anything that could boost Honda's chances to remain in F1 is this win. Fingers crossed we hear some good news soon!

At the beginning of the race, RB and AT had slipstream and DRS for 20 laps, but this was not enough to beat anyone on the track. Would you like to talk about qualifications?
