Cant find a comparative pic, but the-race is reporting the RP has taken W11s suspension this year, https://the-race.com/formula-1/racing-p ... -rear-end/

What can be the reason RP rushed for the rear suspension upgrade when the rules clearly allowed them to modify it without using up any tokens next year? Do they have identified a clear direction for development aligned with new aero update from Mugello or were they covering for possible continued Ferrari protest leading to rule changes?

Could be both, but FIA clarified that teams can take year old parts without token last week again.
I think now that they know the upgrades they brought to mugello works, the new rear suspension will give them more speed, why to wait till next year if you can have an advantage in battle for 3rd place in WCC.

Also they can utilise a token for next years mercedes rear suspension if that is drastically different and worth more speed or in the meantime finetune the package with this supension which will be carried forward next year if next years mercedes suspension remains the same or not worth a token.

Nicolas Carpentiers has not spotted any changes in the rear suspension

Has the current gearbox been used in the allocated races? They might have the sets ready in case of a failure.

In Edd Straw's Russian GP driver ratings he mentions that Perez had the new suspension this weekend. I have yet to find a photo

Whats the final verdict on upgrade gain?
Stroll performance at Mugello vs Sochi created confusion on real gains. Perez without upgrade was more impressive at Soch with just 8 Sec away from Hamilton at end of the race.

So I suppose that's a positive verdict on the suspension updates, while the aero ones are a bit hard to tell (with Stroll's non-race here, and lack of comparison due to Perez' early retirement the race before), and Stroll in general tending to lag Perez in qualifying

Based on Sergios performance i wonder if the upgraded version Lance had might have been strong enough to fight for podium. I mean Perez pushed it to the max but it was just never going to get into the top 3.

It seems RP has not yet installed W11 rear suspension yet; it's still slated for next year -

They have cut the trailing edge of the FW footplate and added a small flick:
