Also like this Alonso going to Renault with Renault on a upward trend. First good news for Alo in a decade.
Sure, winning 24h at Daytona in 2019, winning WEC title in 2018-19, winning 24h LeMans both in 2018 and 2019, and a very praiseworthy participation in Dakar 2020 were all really sad news. Poor Alonso

There is Motorsport outside F1?

Best F1 News then (aside from his Salary). I'm DEFINATELY not a feel sorry for Alonso person. Just a Alonso fan. He's great for the sport! Can't wait for his return!

Mercedes is a well oiled machine cos they rarely do mistakes but when they do they make sure they do not repeat them. The drivers, the race team or the design and development group, all have to set the bar high and pull in the same direction.
I don't think I agree with that. Their strategy team make errors more often than I'd expect for a team that has 2 cars way out front. I think those missteps are made less obvious because the pace of the car makes up for it.

Lots of talk about Renault and RP suddenly being miles ahead of Mclaren now. Key thing to remember is the Mcl35 still seems to have a higher peak than the rest if conditions suit it. In Sochi FP3 it seemed a clear 2nd fastest yet the pendulum swung come Quali as the wind picked.

With the new aero package seemingly addressed at this specific problem, the season is far from being written off yet.

Totally agree, the MCL35 at it’s peak, when the stars aligned in Monza was second quickest, in qualifying and the race. With more updates expected to compliment the new nose and front wing, there’s likely more to come.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

This is a little off topic but Honda is pulling out of F1 at the end of 2021. We should have kept the Mercedes Engines all this time as it was proven that Honda doesn't have what it takes to compete in todays F1. What's gonna happen to the Honda fans though?

Go back into hibernation for another decade or two. :D

Honestly, be devastated for a while. Its a hugely sad time for the sport. I'm gutted. But it opens a lot of unusual conversations.

Max has an option to leave if Honda left F1, so what does that do to the market?

Highly amusing if we see Max and Daniel partnered again at McLaren in 2022 😂

That’s very unfair and narrow minded. Honda have made giant leaps having started years behind the research and development that Mercedes had put in.

In time they would come good especially in the current stable engine regs.

I’m sad because Honda hasn’t competed its journey and again it appears to be leaving at a time where it might start to come good (A la Brawn 2009!!)

What I will say though is that McLaren has put itself in a really nice position tactically by sorting the Merc deal early

Yes that was a master-stroke, even without the Honda exit!

The question is why didn't they start from 2013 since they knew they were gonna partner up with Mclaren? Why not start early as Mercedes did when they knew of the new rules in 2014 from 2010? Then why give up that fast now that they are making some progress?

They dissapointed me. I was expecting the Honda from the 80s and not this. I was even defending Honda fiercely even when they did not started that well. I was thinking that give them some time and they are gonna turn it around. Alas that didn't come to reality.

I agree, they are ahead of Ferrari and on a par with Renault and with less time than the other suppliers.
I'm sad to see them go too, I would have loved for their engine to start challenging Merc and for them to reconcile with Mclaren, but alas, it wasn't to be.

I don’t think anyone is saying that they are miles ahead, but at least RP (and by the team’s own admission) is a few tenths ahead of the MCL35... The Renault, I believe it is on par, maybe a bit faster on certain days and a bit slower on others.

The last 2 races haven’t been representative either... Mugello was a chaotic race and Sochi, we lost Carlos in Lap 1 and Lando was at the back of the grid by the time the race got going.
