A recent visit to a 2 stroke thread reminded me of this invention, the orbital.

"The engine, which produces very high revs, has eight moving parts in the six-chambered version depicted in the patent application, plus valves for each chamber. It can supposedly be powered by compressed air or steam[3] and can be run as a pump."

Are there any other non reciprocating designs?

The jet engine in both axial and centrifugal versions.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Big tea, you struck gold there. The wankel and the liquid piston seem to follow similar design paths with an epicyclic gear containing the bulk of the rotor loads and the housing guiding the path of the rotor.
The 1st video though is an exciting concept, one which has room for many improvements in terms of breathing.

Not sure in actual dimensions, but it looks as if the way the output runs in a circle, it may be suitable to mate to an Epicyclic gearset, further reducing the size of the whole unit

Both the wankel and the liquidpiston design are still reciprocating engines...

The whole rotor has a stroke back and forth. It's what generates compression.

edit, I just checked one of my spares and it's ~15mm

Reciprocating refers to a component undergoing purely rectilinear motion.
Otherwise you can argue that a point on the OD of a perfectly circular shaft undergoes vertical displacement during rotation and hence it is reciprocating.

I mean the eccentric shaft turns and it moves the rotor back and forth, just the same as a crankshaft turns and moves a conrod and piston back and forth. The only difference is the rotor is spinning *as well*
