Seems like drivers will have to commit quite early to enter the pits off that last corner.

Isn't it just the same as yesterday's race? It's the same track after all.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

It'll be a DRS train anyway. Everyone will be in DRS range and thus noone will benefit from it. The only guy that will struggle is the one at the front of a given group.

We saw this on Sunday and it'll be as bad, if not worse, on this Sunday.

It's going to be crazy the shorter the track the smaller the time difference. I think the whole field will be spread by about 3/4ths of a second.

If there is a DRS train, the one at the front will be a sitting duck unless they trim all the wing out, but if they trim the wing out of the car you'll qualify down the order.

Its going to be interesting. Tracks like this make me feel that the pre-picked 8 gears each team has will play a huge role. Some of these corners are FAST, but 6th gear, because you need revs to overcome the direction changes.

I hope its a nose-to-tail DRS train with just enough rain spatter to make inters a conversation, and where we see a lockup cost 4 positions. We going to NASCAR passing on this oval! 🤣

I think pole is going to be massively important. The first two laps allow the leader to try to get out of DRS range. If he can do that, he ought to be able to romp away. As you go back though the field it's just going to be a DRS train with positions swapping around and the guy at the front of each group swapping each lap.

I wonder if we'll see some good old fashioned brake checking to try to put off the following drivers. Pick the right corner to just suddenly be a deal slower and the cars behind will be avoiding each other whilst you whizz away out of range. Get it wrong and you'll be swamped, however.

What will happen by the end is that the cars will be roughly in their qualifying order as the faster cars will have more chance of breaking the DRS train off their tails. The lower end of the field will either have a great time scrapping for the whole race, or very quickly end up watching it from behind a barrier somewhere after tangling.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Yes you’re right, I was commenting off looking at the simulations.

The lack of DRS zone between T8 and T10 will mean a low downforce setup might not actually detract from the qualy lap time, and could well be the fastest. If so DRS on the other straights will be far less effective.

It will, there are enough downforce dependent corners that running more wing will make you faster, there's an ideal sweet spot.
