Italian motorsport think they have the inside news on the 2021 Ferrari PU
Ferrari does not change the architecture of the hybrid part of the power unit. Turbine and compressor will also remain close on the 2021 engine, while a 2022 version for the ground-effect single-seater with the two separate turbocharging elements is being tested, but it is not certain that it will be adopted.

Oh my, poor lad, isolating in Monaco.......

still, if he was at Maranello recently - which i'd be inclined to espect,
i wonder how much this could impact work on the preperations for the 21 season.

You do know he was born there, right?

Yeah, like i've never noticed under which flag he races.
Does that change anything though?

Sainz and Leclerc to test 2018 Ferrari next week.

21st January 2021, 7:13 | Written by Dieter Rencken and Keith Collantine

New Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz Jnr will be joined by team mate Charles Leclerc when the team tests one of its earlier F1 cars next week at its Fiorano test track, RaceFans understands.

Sainz and Leclerc are expected to spend one day each at the wheel of the SF71H.

Sainz has deserved to be able to test in a Ferrari racing car for a day.
But what's the point for Leclerc to do that too?
He drove the SF71H in Mugello last year with the aim of exploring the circuit.

... why not?

Getting Carlos accustomed to the team and how they operate, getting the team use to how he operates and his feedback. Adding Charles into the equation can assist them in comparing what one says vs. the other and also getting both of them working together as a team. Not to mentioned to test Charles Fitness with regards to his covid recovery just to be sure.

So... makes complete sense to have both of them test if the opportunity is there, especially considering the lack of testing that occurs in F1 these days; A complete joke in my view.

Bring back testing already! The top teams with all the money have simply spent it in different ways to exercise their superiority over lesser teams anyway.

At least with testing the fans have something to watch and enjoy.

This is further proof how ignorant the F1 rules are . Sainz must drive a three year old car on his debut. Could you imagine Niki Lauda arriving in Ferrari in 1974 and told to drive the 1971 Ferrari? Formula One is a Farce.

Why is preventing teams from running recent/current cars to stop them gaining unfair advantage a farce?
