Alfa Romeo C41

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

OT - Does anyone know why Alfa is using kevlar (?) on the front edge of FW endplate? They did so on C37, C39 and now.
I haven't noticed that in other teams.

Teams have to use a material designed to stop spread of debris/cause of punctures
In order to prevent tyre damage to other cars, the complete endplate, with the exception of parts of the second volume inboard of the virtual endplate surface must be at least 10mm thick (being the minimum distance when measured normal to the surface in any direction) with a 5mm radius applied to all extremities.

In addition, the leading 50mm of this bodywork, with the exception of fasteners and inserts as described below, must be of a prescribed laminate, details of this laminate may be found in the Appendix to the Technical Regulations.

It's a good looking car by modern standards, but still pretty similar to last year.

Does anyone else build car models? I was just looking the color scheme over through the eyes of a model builder; this car would be a real bitch to model! Complex paint job.

On Filming Day in Barcelona, Alfa Romeo tried a different floor from the one shown during the presentation.

Motorsport Italy's analysis spoke of work done to slim the engine cover down (showing the improved cooling/efficiency of the new Ferrari PU apparently) but I don't see anything at all. The engine cover is near identical to last year especially on the sidepods. The Alfa has to have the bulkiest sidepods on the grid right now, comparing it to the Alpha Tauri the AT02 almost looks like an animal that hasn't been fed in weeks, very slimmed down. Alfa really haven't caught on to this super skinny sidepod trend the grid has been following the last 2 or so years

Alfa also did some changes to the barge boards and the diffuser which were only present in the filming day, not the launch
