That's truly annoying, as I have a model based on March 2020 revision. Then I noted changes from November 2020, which were already quite different, and now from February 2021... these one are quite drastic changes. Finally specified plank with longer diffuser and updates on floor channels will change a lot, some changes apply to both front and rear wing with complete rework on DRS system rules.

Just imagine that teams are allowed to work on 2022 cars from January this year under strict budget caps, working for 2 months and then FIA out of nowhere changes rules so much, that it's basically B-Spec car.

There likely won’t be a definitive concept yet. They’ll be experimenting with loads of ideas before going down a development path. The teams will also have been working with these amendments before it gets agreed and released by the WMSC.

The keel area is interesting where the plank meets is smaller than the plank. So there’s a “bib” volume. Almost forces a shape like this

Of course not, there are still some open topics in the rules.
Question is how long they will do that, as clock is ticking and cars need to be build up around end of this year.

Bib area extends on the sides on the bottom of the keel being somehow kind of a teatray wedge. All that to prevent moving the keel as much as possible to the back of the car so you could drop ride heights much more than usual.

I think the bib area is frontal impact/hip & groin protection. It’s a slightly less elegant solution than their drafts show though.

Why not keep changing the rules until the last minute, to make sure the 2022 cars are as underdeveloped (and the grid shuffled as randomly) as possible? :lol:

That is also the purpose of that area.

Having a bit of experience with them... I won't be surprised if regulations would change around autumn...

They just look a bit like toy cars or video game cars, which I don't like. Verging a little into the territory of those horrible batmobile FE cars.

The changes are not major though just (relatively) minor detail changes. The floor (except the keel) and monocoque are pretty fixed.

Does the new halo for 2022 use all flats (as shown in the render) rather than a combination of flats and pipes?

Those images do make the proposed cars look like a version of an IndyCar. :wtf:
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

That's how I felt when I first saw the 2021 (now 2022) concept. The nose, sidepod intakes and the front wing flaps are very similar to the current IndyCar which makes me hate the new regulations even more. Fingers crossed teams outsmart the FIA and come up with better designs although the regulations are going to be even more restrictive :roll:

With the raised inlet for the floor in front of the sidepod, will the undercut be as powerul/useful as it has been in the past?

As far as I can tell the halo is as it is now. But there is no definition in the rule book. There is also no provision for an aerodynamic shroud like now soooooo... your guess is as good as mine.
