Alpha Tauri AT02

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

These images show how little steering movements Yuki makes. Yuki said that the AT02 rides like on rails,
and he had never experienced so much grip. Everything is also very smooth.

Looks very stable on braking. Yuki overused DRS on that quick lap which kind of diminishes his best time, but at the same time makes this car look even more impressive on braking.

Tsunoda's comments after day 2:
“But on the first medium-tyre push the DRS was not working. In the last C4 push-laps, on the pedals something broke.

“And at the end of the last lap I lost power, so I couldn’t drive a normal stint.

“It’s good for the team to have data like this and not have issues like this on a race weekend. So it was a good, positive day as well, but I hope we don’t have issues like this tomorrow and I can attack and push normally.”

“We had a different issue almost every stint. Like not being able to use DRS makes a massive difference to the braking points.
...
“But it’s okay, I still have one more [half] day. I just have to forget today, reset my mind and drive my best tomorrow.”

Really interesting view of the splitter design. Looks like it's hinged at the rear? That's a very hefty plate that supports it vertically. Not sure if that's designed to pass the static load test but buckle on track?

You can just see where the cam cover rear mounting point is on that last photo... all I can say is, they weren't joking when they said the 2021 PU is much more compact and lower..
