Hi guys,
I am working on the new rules. Finally, I have to say.
The main part is fixing up the FreCAD model, which is used to create all the geometry for you guys. The thing is last year we were close to having a model for the "new" 2021 regs. but then we jump started the season and now we obviously all want the "new" 2022 regs. However, I have to fix more than I would have thought. But maybe someone can help me. If there is interest in helping out, I can compile a list of things that need action. For now, I can say that creating all the parts related to the rear wing would help out. Let me know if someone can offer some help. Keep in mind, I would realy like to have everything as a nice FreeCAD model, as it would help to keep the championship as open as possible.

Actually, after thinking about it. If someone wants to help, any CAD tool would work, as long as it can export to STEP.
Even without help, I am on the files right now. A few weeks ago, I updated MFlow to what we will need for this season, one of the features allows us more rake on our cars.
Lets hope I can keep up the pace and the next season can soon get announced...

Cool,
so download the rules:
https://www.fia.com/sites/default/files ... -02-19.pdf
And have a go at the part defined in Appendix 1 §§27-33.
Understanding this is a bit difficult. But after a while, your brain will adjust to the language and then these are actually somewhat understandable instructions to construct the shapes in question.
If someone else also wants to contribute to a part, I suggest Appendix 1 §§22-26. Please announce that you are working though, so we do not have people working on the same parts.

It is still a bit difficult for me to tell you what I would exactly need, so if you do have some time, the Apx 1, §§22-26 would be great but if you would prefer something a bit easier §§35-38 would be cool.

You're just using the 2022 regs?

Yes, the ones in the link. It seems there is a new version but I cannot jump around every time the FIA releases something.

I assume that legality boxes will base on FIA rules, but what about what's inside them? Is there going to be more freedom on design? I guess you won't check curvatures and restricted "virtual surface" angles, will you?

Not sure if this will be helpful at all but I had put this together using the March 2020 version of the regulations, feel free to use any of it if you want:

We do want to keep the rules simple, one reason is that we need to able able to quickly check the cars.

Sounds cool. But you do mean 2020?

Someone else from the forum sent me a message. He could provide me with all volumes. Not sure why in private but if the files are good, then we would almost be done.

I don't know why, but yesterday I wrote something and did not appear on the forum... the rear wing volume (27-33) needs still to be done? if yes I will work on them right now

Question. What is being done about the front wheel arch, rear wheel deflector and winglets, and wheel covers? Will we get the option to make our own? I quite like the idea of the front arch and rear deflector being free!

Nobody has taken up this task. But maybe you want to wait a little bit. As I said, there is an offer to send me all files. I will have to then check them though, so this does not mean we would be "done". But as a measure to make sure we get done as quickly as possible, yes you can start.
