Tbh I doubt many teams would ever go back to a double dragon lineup. It seems very unlikely at the top

So back to silly season

just read an article suggesting Helmut actually concidered putting Tsunoda alongside Max but concidered too big of a risk for a variety of reasons.
what's interesting to take from that is that it was actually discussed and concidered. That would have been remarkable,
and i can't remind any rookie except for Hamilton to land a seat with no experience in f1 in a top-team.

I could concider Magnussen @ Mclaren, and though they managed to get podiums was imho not in the pure competitive condition that mclaren was in 2007 and redbull in 2021.

VanDoorne also doesn't count imho as mclaren by that team was midfield at best.

while also sending off 4 Hamilton players to make it more interesting"

They should though! It's just plain better... It works just fine for Team Penske in Indycar for example.

In F1 there are some examples where it cost a team a drivers championship and there are no examples where it got them one. It is fun to watch though.

Would Coulthard count? I can’t remember if he went straight into the Williams, which obviously was a championship capable car. (However it was as a replacement under tragic circumstances) But I can’t think of anyone else.

They also put Albon into the RedBull in his rookie season. He might be the only driver that was in a race winning car in his rookie season since Hamilton.

Didnt Piquet Jr. join Renault in ‘08? That was also a racewinning car, albeit by no means a top car

I'd rather refer it to a WDC capable car on its own strenght without luck perhaps, for being a bit more specific.
I wouldn't concider the 2008 Renault on that absolute top level tbh.
As for Albon, that would balance on the edge. I don't really know if the 2020 RBR car was really that 'championship' material as the 2007 Mclaren was against it's competition.
Personally, I don't really think the 2020 RedBull car was as 'capable' for the title as the 2007 Mclaren was against f.e. the Ferrari, but it's hard to really definitely judge on that.
I would be inclined to have the feeling Albon @ RedBull in 2020 was a league up or so compared to Magnussen debuting @ Mclaren in 2014. Mclaren was still somewhat capable but only the first race was really an achievement.

I feel like the RBR car for 2021 is in a far higher league than the RBR car of 2020. Or at the very least, the floor changes of the 2021 rules have 'handicapped' Mercedes so much that it brought RBR into play for the title.

As for Coulthard, i could bring up more people. Villeneuve for example. However i was counting since Hamilton.
But even then i would argue that Villeneuve back then had performed to such degree in indy that he had enough success to vouch for compared to Hamilton imho.

At the moment, i think the only reasonable comparison to Hamilton's debut @ Mclaren would be if you'd put Mick Schumacher in a Mercedes seat.
Or Russell @ the Mercedes seat when he debuted instead of Williams.

You could be right- if Norris keeps on bossing him. But then where does he go? No seat at RBR or Ferrari.

Replaced by Russell, and I think it happens in 2022. 😲

Russel lost his shine to me. Making many errors in the race and Latifi imrpoving and making russel look like Jarno Truli. Only good on a Saturday. Russel isnt ready for Mercedes. Bottas is actually better than most think. He is getting podiums and making very few errors. His main weakness is his first stint and tyre temps. Otherwise I see Russel finding his way at Aston Martin after Aston dumps Vettel.

Alonso to retire after this year too. Ocon is handling him quite well.

it has become so predictable. those who like bottas, tries to find a way to make a point that russell is not good. they are so afraid to see bottas lose that seat.
this has been the worst start to a season for bottas of the 5 seasons he is with the team. even norris is ahead of him on points. he is becoming a sitting duck for lewis. there isn't even a competition. he is driving the best car and still couldn't shake off max in the first stint and became a casualty for an undercut (sort of). once lewis overtook, he disappeared. that's the kind of pace that car has. ultimately, he ended up 3rd in no man's land. luckily for him, there is another dumb driver in the other red bull.
russell is driving a bad race car, which has been pointed by many people here. it's a difficult car with peaky downforce (as the team is trying something different) and almost impossible to follow a car ahead. you say latifi is improving? he was overtaken by Mick in a much slower car. besides, a young driver learns from mistakes and if that was a yard stick to measure, none of the champion drivers should have ever got a chance to drive for top teams.
i don't even understand why people try sounding logical for the sake of bottas. it's bonkers to be measuring russell in a bad car, ignoring what he did in a good car a few months back.
