I’m not sure they care about a fastest lap point. The RBR is comfortably faster and will be for the remainder of the season. They could actually run the table from now barring any DNFs or unforeseen circumstances.

I see this as another tactical faux pas from Mercedes. Why throw away points? His front right is blistered anyways

I think Perez will catch and pass Bottas. If he gets close to Bottas it prevents Mercedes giving Hamilton a late stop for a fastest lap attempt.

I don't understand why they don't pit Hamilton and give him 10 laps on nearly-new mediums. Of course, there's always the risk of a stuck wheel etc., but there's also the risk of Hamilton's tyres dropping off.
