What about the new tyres? Who does that help most? Will it change the order?

The sprint race doubles the opportunity for the fast starters to gain some places. Might we see some drivers even more places higher at the end of Proper Race lap1 than their qualifying position? Which drivers are good at this? Alonso, Stroll, Ricciardo?

It will make the races more unpredictable as for sure some people will start “out of position”. Especially with a few crashes. This is exactly how America runs indycar racing as well, it is so unpredictable that (SC) luck plays a large role. I think it will be here to stay.
Controversy does not have a short memory.

And as far as I'm concerned it's stupid and one of the things thats will make me stop watching F1.

Agreed. It feels like an attempt to "just do something!" to invent excitement.

I'm really at a loss at what I should expect from this weekend. I simply don't get the whole sprint race thing. I hope the weekend goes by quickly and painless.
Same here, not sure what to expect, but more racing is always welcome :D

I guess its an attempt to atract more viewers, but sincerely, I´d wait till the end of next season as those new rules should improve the show several orders of magnitude and attract more audience. If that does not work this new weekend format will not solve it either

I actually think it would've been more exciting to scrap Practice 1 and go straight into qualifying, that would actually make things really interesting which I assume is the whole point of this new format.

Imo, it's nothing but a ploy to pull in people with incredibly low attention spans, and those thats need constant drama. They want the people that destroyed regular tv, the reality/gossip, fake drama crowd. Honestly, I maybe watch 3 or 4 hrs of tv a month now, as almost everything that's broadcast now is trash, aimed at entertaining the before mentioned people. Even DSC, TLC, HIST, A&E, and Nat Geo broadcast mostly trash now.

Honestly, for purely subjective reasons, i would like this qualification format to turn out to be a total fiasco at the level of GP USA 2005. Qualifications are the least problem in today's F1 ...

This whole Parc Fermé after friday, but then teams get their car back for saturday... they aren't allowed to change anything?
Otherwise teams will run the car lower, as tight as possible body and partially covered brake ducts(if not differen model).

Just a poorly thought out idea...

I’ll give it a chance… Going into the weekend with as little bias as possible and looking forward to it… If it works and it improves the weekend, great! If it doesn’t, we only have to go through a couple more of them and that’s it.

At the end, if it helps F1 longevity, I’ll get on board… The amount of changes that fans have swore will make them stop watching becomes a big list and most of them are still around… If anything, the sport has more people watching than ever and that can only be good for the teams and at the end for the fans too… Hopefully these type of initiatives allows for additional teams in the grid, which is what I would really like to see in the future

I think the $200 Million entrance fee will all but guarantee we don't get any new teams, instead existing teams will just be bought and sold!

Maybe… But it at least guarantees that teams that do come in, are in for the long term and not for a season or two… I don’t see a problem with the entrance fee, especially if they are looking for teams that will come in to try to compete and not just be a marketing exercise.
