Bravo to your knowledge on knowing the movements! Have you any idea as to whom the big engineer recruit is for Aston Martin as Stroll senior said it was to be announced this week, albeit not seen anything!

Out of interest, how’s it you get your information?

I get my info either from Linkedin or looking at what jobs team are advertising in their website. Big recruit from Aston likely to either be an aero guy or a simulation guy if they make one, but he may have spoken about the appointment of Mark White who is joining as Operations Director. Currently Williams and Aston are hiring and the top three teams (Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes-the ones with the biggest budgets) are depleting in staff (slightly) due to the budget cap. Both Fallows and Furbatto are still working for Red Bull and Alfa so I recon they won't join until next year. Ferrari are moving loads of staff to Haas as well (eg Simone Resta, Maurzio Bocchi, Andrea de Zordo.)

Do we know when these positions become effective? Or do most of these positions occur with immediate effect?

Most very senior positions have a decent gardening leave attached which is why I'm asking.

And great work by the way, your research has made for some very interesting reading about the side of F1 we rarely hear about.

Ok so I'm pretty sure Williams have completely reorganised their aerodynamics team. The team is comprised of;

Aerodynamics Director: Dave Wheater (Remains in position, joined from Lotus in 2013, head of aero since 2018)
Head of Aerodynamic Operations: Shaun Whitehead (Remains in position, joined from Red Bull in 2013)
Head of Aerodynamic Design: Marc Logan (Remains in position, been in position from 2014)
Head of Aerodynamic Science: Adam Kenyon (Joined from Mercedes, July 2021)
Head of Aerodynamic Technology: Hari Roberts (Joined from Alpine, July 2021)
Head of Aerodynamic Software: Jonathan Catterall (Promotion from lead aerodynamic software engineer, July 2021)
Head of CFD: Rai Alsemgeest (Remains in position, from 2014)
Principal Aerodynamicist: Adam Purvis (Remains in postion)
Principal Aerodynamicist: Mathew Salisbury (Promotion July 2021, from Project Leader)

Loads of Junior Staff have either been promoted or had their positions changed ie senior aerodynamicists becoming Aero Project Leaders ect in July 2021. Looks like Williams have been building engineering team from Bottom Up. Wheater, Kenyon and Roberts all worked together at Lotus so appointments likely initiated from Wheater himself.

All these staff are working at Williams now but the staff may have gone on gardening leave before joining.

McLaren have also renamed all their engineering positions.

James Key is now Executive Technical Director, Andrea Stella Executive Racing Director, and Piers Thynne Executive Operations Director (from Production Director)
Really don't know why they've done this but I guess it is to distinguish the engineering hierarchy more clearly.
Williams have done a similar thing with Adam Carter now Engineering Director (instead of Chief Engineer) and Dave Wheater now Aerodynamics Director (instead of Head of Aero)

Could this be as a result of the cost cap? Certain senior management roles are excluded from the cost cap I believe. Maybe it's just the team ensuring those salaries are "safe".
