HELP with IRC

Post

Dear all, can you please give me some info on joining the forum's chat with IRC client? I am using Colloquy. Do I need to use forum login info/password to join the chat room? Are there any other setting than just clicking the link given on forum to join the chat?

Hi Tomba, How can I join the chat? Will simply clicking the link (irc://QuakeNet/F1Technical) will work? I have tried couple of times but status remains disconnected. Can you please elaborate?

Here is a guide for coloquy: http://docs.zetaboards.com/irc/colloquy

The channel itself is located on QuakeNet and is called #F1Technical.
An example QuakeNet IRC server is this one: irc.quakenet.eu.org

Does that help?

Oh, and if you see me there, but I'm not responding, that's fairly normal :).
I'm usually in class, on the volleyball court, or in bed ;).

It is working. It just seems like it is just in use during races and qualys.
I wonder why we don't have a constant chat going on. I once was on a forum that had the mirc imbedethed to the forum itself. You had to click on a button and then it opened a java chat I think in a new window. By this it got much more visitors.

Yeah, it's mostly a race-time thing, currently.
No harm in people sticking around when not actually having anything to say (or even at their computer), btw. You can always respond later, or share whatever, whenever. It's not MSN :D.
