Petrol Companies in F1

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

It was reported that REPSOL can be back to F1 supporting Pedro de La Rosa. The only thing is that they would like to be back as a supplier and not only as a Sponsor.
Welcome REPSOL ! Spanish Technology!!!

New fuel on the block

Post

There are some talks in Shanghai that The BMW WilliamsF1 Team will replace its technical partnership with Petrobras by the money of th huge Asian Oil Company SINOPEC.

It is said that Sinopec managers are so excited with Formula One that they would like to have a strong link with a F1 team than only sponsoring the Chinese Race.

Do you think they can develop a F1 fuel?

New oil companies in F1

Post

Has anybody heard anything about REPSOL sponsoring Alonso at BAR in 2006? Also there are some gossips regarding Sinopec supplying Honda!?!?!

Williams and Petrobras finish their agreement this year and probably BP will supply fuel to them (as castrol brand) once Jaguar wil not race anymore....

Does anybody know when petronas agreement finishes?

How about Esso-Toyota and Mobil-McLaren?

If I'm not mistaken the Petronas agreement finishes at the end of 2004....

About Sinopec....yes it's been talked about...but today rumors sugest Ferrari has been able to get their sponsorship for 2006, cause the Shell contract finishes at the end of 2005!

About Mobil....probably they'll stay on the boat while Mercedes is there...and Esso is a 5 year deal (if I'm not mistaken) so it will probably finish at the end of next year!

Yes the Repsol rumor has also been around the paddock....but it seems that Briatori is going to stay at Renault after the end of 2005.....so probably he isn't going to retire like mentioned a few weeks ago....and he's going to stay at Renault....if he does I really don't believe that he'll let Alonso go to another team!

Sinopec x Jordan

Post

There are also some gossips about Sinopec investing in Jordan. Let's see if it is only money like the malaysian company Petronas or if they are bringing more technology to F1 !

Two updates:
BAR has re-newed its partnership with NOC (NMOC, Nisseki, whatever it's called; see my post on the first page of this topic):
http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_ ... t_id=23597
NOC-Eneos oils now, but still Elf fuel?

A couple of reports on the grandprix.com website late last year suggested that Petrobras has seriously increased its budget for WilliamsF1. Even without the certainty of Pizzonia driving.

I guess they were also using Nisseki 2 or 3 years ago. They will probably supply also the fuel.

Have you heard about the FOFAP group of lubricants suppliers in F1?

How about Sauber?

Post

And Sauber?

I've seen at Barcelona that they are not using Shell fuel anymore. It is a Petronas fuel but the sticker on the drums says it is comming from England!?!?!?!? And the Emergency telephone number is not from Malaysia as well.
