Kimi Raikkonen topped the final day of pre-season testing before all teams are heading off to Australia for the first Grand Prix of the season. Fernando Alonso went second fastest in the morning, just like Raikkonen lapping on soft Pirelli tyres. Senna for Williams went third fastest.

Mr.S. I appreciated your enthusiasm but have an objective look here. Nico was mainly in the low to mid 1:28s and ended mid 1:29s. Also, the Merc appears to be quicker on fresh tires. It's keeping them alive that's a trick compared to RB. It's not as bad as it was though.
Ferrari appear to be doing a race sim. Their form is a bit inconsitent looking and race pace thus far appears to be .500-.750 off the top 3.

And Mercedes' needs to SOLVE tyre degradation issues to get 2nd or 3rd place. This is Rosberg's best stint in terms of tyre wear & he has lost almosyt 1s in 7 Laps. Compare that to Webber's 16 Lap run. This is completely Unheard of. What has Newey got in the bag???
What is this ? Everybody should "just give up" ?? crap .. it's a competition .
stop trolling please or beeing a flamebait.
And about the Merc tyer degradation ... they are testing the wear when hitting them hard at the beginning of a stint , for every compound.
Th0R wrote:@kooleracer you wrote that lotus and mclaren are having problems, is there any source which states what kind of problems?
McLaren havent been on the track for 2 hours now. There is a reason for that. Analyzing data isn't there reason because thats done at woking on the fly. So there a nursing somekind of issue now. I don't know what it is, but there got to be one.
Lotus same story. Only completed 54 laps. The came out and whent straight back in.
No source but i think autosport will report on this when the write there test report at the end of this session.
Mclaren have an Upgrade Package coming,a big one to be introduced gradually throughout the 4 day test. So this kind of delay is very common.

In last year's testing & this year I have not seen a car do 16 laps & barely loose 1s. I think that says it all. This has nothing to do with Mercedes, just Red Bull have taken a HUGE LEAP.
Mercedes have tested a lot. I have seen them do Slightly slower lap time to begin with & faster times. Both last day & today. There have been atleasr 10-15 stints. In each stint with every fuel load they have lost atleast 2s in 8-9 Laps.
Not Ferrari, not Mclaren throughout the test in any Fuel Load have been able to do 16 laps with loosing only 1s.
Mercedes is improving day by day. The dropoff getting better by every run. Don't forget that they missed a complete test week. So its normal that they are behind on the car setup. But from whay i can see, they are steadily improving. And they dont have any reliability issues. All there focus is on car setup, so don't count them out yet.

Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."
I would hardly say a huge leap. The tires are a bit better this year (everyone likes them) and the Red Bull has always been very good on tires. RB8 is just a non-EBD version of RB7 anyway so it's not anything really new to them in deducing how to set up the car.
Mr.S wrote:Newey is an absolute genius. I give up. Adrian. You have won this year too. This is a WINNING car hands down.
What times was webber setting on the 16 laps and what tyres was he using?
Mr.S wrote:Webber lost 1s over a 16 lap run. 16 Freaking Laps. This is unheard off. If he wanted maybe he could have 30 odd laps with that tyre. Red Bull is going to do 1 Whole Pit Stop less than the others.
kooleracer wrote:Ferrari is not having a good day at the office. A lot of instalation laps and the only covererd 60 odd laps today. Also Mclaren en Lotus are having issues. So of the topteams only Mercedes and Red Bull are stable. Ferrari en McLaren still having issues on the last test week. This is all playing in the hands of Red Bull again. Ferrari is still making wholesale changes on the last test days. They losing an awful lot of track time because of that. Quite because Alonso think they only understand 20% of the car.
His last run. Keep in mind Mercedes are 1 week behind on car setup, so there are playing catch up. But from what i can see, the are making progress every day and they are doing it quick.
