Kimi Raikkonen topped the final day of pre-season testing before all teams are heading off to Australia for the first Grand Prix of the season. Fernando Alonso went second fastest in the morning, just like Raikkonen lapping on soft Pirelli tyres. Senna for Williams went third fastest.

What times was webber setting on the 16 laps and what tyres was he using?
Mr.S wrote:Webber lost 1s over a 16 lap run. 16 Freaking Laps. This is unheard off. If he wanted maybe he could have 30 odd laps with that tyre. Red Bull is going to do 1 Whole Pit Stop less than the others.
On any Tyre loosing 1s over a 16 lap Stint is OUT of this world.
Ferrari,Mclaren,Mercedes are all loosing atleast 2-2.5s over a 10 Lap+ Run. Even last year I can NOT remember anyone loosing only 1s in a 16 lap run. This is unheard of. There is barely any degradation.
Mr.S wrote:Okay Nico's last run was a 12 Lap Run.He lost 2.4s.
Massa has lost 2.1 over a 10 lap Run. Times are fairly similar. Nico is probably slightly lighter.
But none of them are anywhere near Webber's 16 lap which is loosing 1s.
Or maybe you could also read that Webber was testing something else and not tyer degradation. While Nico had to do tyer degradation tests to find the "sweet spot's" because they had a week less testing.
Comparing the stints is almost impossible as we don't know what the team is checking at that particular stint. One could test balance , or diffirent tyers , or have diffirent fuel .
But to conclude on those comparrissons and say that everybody should just give up is nonsence.

Being a racing driver means you are racing with other people. And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing, competing to win...
What about going at 80% of full speed in the beginning and just trying to keep those times? That would result in let's say 95% of full speed towards the end. Tire degradation much worse than the times display.....don't read too much into the times m8
His last run. Keep in mind Mercedes are 1 week behind on car setup, so there are playing catch up. But from what i can see, the are making progress every day and they are doing it quick.
You say that is progress? 1.692 Seconds after 10 Laps that's HUGE!

This is wrong. At least for hard tires. But it seems RBR atm has a slight advantage over other teams in terms of tire wear.
Really interesting stint from Massa. He starts off with a 28.8 and 15 laps later is back at a 28.7!
Obviously it's moving about therein, but it's interesting to see that the tyres either a) coming back to him b) and/or what he's doing allowing him to save his tyres to some extent.
Not sure which tyres he's on. Would be interested if anyone knows.

Oh please I am a Mercedes fan myself. BTW it is unimaginably stupid to say that they were trying to degrade their tyres.
They were checking TYRE degradation over various fuel-loads,setups & checking out which causes better times overall -> To push in the 1st Lap or Not. They are changing setups & fuel loads & getting Data. They are not TRYING to degrade their tyres. YOU DONT FIND A SWEET SPOT BY TRYING TO DEGRADE TYRES.
Nobody is TESTING TYRE DEGRADATION like that & nobody tests like that. On a normal sting you get DATA which helps you to understand it.
It does not matter what Webber was testing. This is UNHEARD of. I have never seen this last year. No team has even MANAGED to do a 16 lap run with loosing only 1s. This is EXTRA-ORDINARY. ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Why are you people just comparing first and last laps? There is a human driver who CANNOT do everything identically each lap, so just comparing first and last is somewhat useless. You need a standard deviation from lap to lap for a decent look at degradation.
Looking at the lap times above, they don't have that Red Bull metronomic quality
sorry mods wrong thread I know(lap times, team or testing threads I know)but what do you do when you want to respond to a post that's in the wrong place?

Nico's times above seemed to level off. His last and first time were within half a second.
1.27.537 & 1.29.961.
That is 2.4 odd seconds not half a second Dren.
This is GROSS violation. You guys are picking & choosing times to suit people.
Nico's 1st Lap which was 1.27.537 was omitted & the stint was shown from 1-30's... Ridiculous really. I am Mercedes fan but what is there to manipulate date to suit us??

So of the topteams only Mercedes and Red Bull are stable. Ferrari en McLaren still having issues on the last test week. This is all playing in the hands of Red Bull again. Ferrari is still making wholesale changes on the last test days. They losing an awful lot of track time because of that. Quite because Alonso think they only understand 20% of the car.
This is quite troubling for the rest of the field.
Ferrari are testing the new floor and diffuser from Byrne.
Thats is just wrong. Alonso feels that they only understand 20% of the car, why are you changing components. This is really not a good sign, if take that route you will end up like ducati in MotoGP. A floor is a fundamentale component on the car. Look at Red Bull there are just focusing on car setup, thats what you are supposed to do in the last test session. They cannot have a base setup if there changing thinks on a daily base.
I think it will be:
Red Bull: Really sollid.
Mercedes/McLaren: Think they are really close.
Ferrari: A lot to sort out and a lot of catching up to do.
