Is a car still classed as 'odd' if it wipes the floor with the regular competition? Cooper and Lotus made for a rude awakening for established teams at the time. Was the windmill car a brabham? Always liked the quirky 6-wheeled car, must have been a bit of a sod for pitstops though. How about JPS lotus with the downforce skirts. Some of the 70s cars where they look like the cockpit was an afterthought just stuck infront of the engine - never sure if there was room for the drivers legs...

That Tyrell from the mid 90s that has the mid wins in above the sidepods beside the driver or the mid wing McLaren-Mercedies that weighed a ton and handled like a brick get my votes.

Altho id say there could be some contenders for this catogory next year, some definate howlers coming next year.

Hey Mod doesnt the car have to have competed in a race that 312 6 wheeler never raced - how about Johnny Parsons Kurtis Offy that ran in the 1950 Indy 500 - it was part of the world championship :)

I wonder what the good Keith Duckworth was thinking with this one, love the aluminium bodywork though.

Andy Granatelli, in 1967, wheeled out the STP-Paxton turbine car to a dumbstruck media. The revolutionary race car, designed specifically for America’s most prestigious motor race - the Indianapolis 500 - featured a 550bhp Pratt & Whitney gas turbine engine mated to a Ferguson Formula four-wheel drive system coupled to a reduction gear system.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.
