I think Jenson can drive a 'good car' very well, as this suits his smooth and fluid driving style. When he's been is a competitive car his has generally out performed his team mate. When he’s been lumbered with a ‘sub optimal ground vehicle’ his performance has tended to be at or below his team mates.

Does anyone know if Honda has Jenson under contract for '09? If so, then the new owners will be able to obtain his services.

Hi Dave, Fry said that Jenson has a contract with them for next year. Maybe if someone bought the team, he will continue in it...

Honda F1, previously BAR, bought up the interest that was the Tyrell team n'est ce pas? I feel for the Jenson particularly given his previous efforts to leave the team with all the issues that developed. Bit sticky for Ross Braun who has been trying to get the house in order when the plug gets pulled. I wonder if Dave Richards/555 racing are going to have a punt - that would have a certain completeness. Not to belittle the impact, but we have seen some teams come and go, rebrand/sell on and just plain disappear in the past few years. The assets are obviously there for a real chance to progress the team but any buyer is probably going to wield a big axe to the staffing numbers. Best of luck to all.

Rubens will return home to work on the farm.

Jenson will be the stig.

A litle strong, but I basically agree with you. Maybe Jenson is this generation's Chris Amon -- plenty of speed, but not smart enough to get into the right car at the right time.

Yes, there are hundreds of people now without jobs - and with few prospects. that is the serious human aspect of Hondas retreat.

Very selfishly, I'd love to see Ross Brawn back at Ferrari.

Even less likely -- Brawn, Todt, and M Schu MIGHT be able to gather the money/investors to buy Honda . . .

I for one would love to see Jenson knocking on Frank's door, very politely asking to have his drive back, this time offering to pay for actually driving the car...

Rubens should go to the IRL for a good time and to add to his pension fund.

That is an interesting idea. I would like to see this happen, but I don't see the likelyhood of it, like you don't.

Michael Schumacher isn't keen to be more than casually involved beyond a 20 hour working week as a figure head and advisor.

Todt is a very controversial figure in the world of F1 and doesn't fit the typical profile of an entrepreneur who would care for the money of a financial investor. Financial investors are the most likely buyers of exHondaF1.

Ross Brawn would be most likely to be part of any solution, but I doubt that he will be teamed up with his other pals again.

well jenson has a 2009 contract and rubens doesn't , hence the apology to jenson

the ferrari philosophy of longer wheelbase rewards the smoother driving style , so jenson would be ideal for them ...but with santander going there ? won't ever happen

santander has been very lucky , hardly touched by the banking problems ...spanish regulations didn't allow them to employ the risky strategies employed in other countries

so rubens into wealthy retirement ...jenson still at the rebranded Honda ; money doesn't disappear you know , it just moves into other hands ; maybe there is a little floating around the middle east in a pool of oil?

if the rumors of a ferrari engine for 2009 are true then jenson could be a contender ..., I don't suppose that Brawn and co have been twiddling their thumbs for the last year or more
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

I think Rubens still enjoys racing. I'd like to see him pilot LMP sportscars.

What a shame for the Honda engineers. I think Jenson should just go somewhere else, either an interim testing role or a race seat at STR. Jense still has what it takes to win, he has just had terrible luck, always ending up at the wrong place at the wrong time. I want to see him continue on. As for Rubino, his time in F1 has passed, but he has been saying that he wants to continue racing, I would love to see him head over to the IRL, I think he could be very sucessful there. I feel like even an average F1 driver would be very competetive in the IRL, and a driver of Rubino's caliber would challenge for championships.
