Where will Jenson and Rubens end up?

Post

With Honda gone, where will Jenson & Rubens get a drive?

If I was Jenson, I'd be hammering to get in the Torro Rosso right now..

Rubens, well I think his F1 career has come to an end unfortunatley.

With Honda going does not mean that the team in Brackley will not race in 2009.
If a buyer can be found for the facilities and salaries of guys like Ross Brawn then Jenson can still race next year.
On the other hand, if a buyer is not found in time to secure Jenson's services them STR is his only option. His mate DC might be able to provide him a good link to Dietrich Mateschitz to help the deal through.

I strongly feel that JB is a painfully overrated driver, remember the thrashing he got from Fisichella at Renault, why I for one should be more concerned with the other 700 employees than a multi-millionaire.

Id say Jenson would have the potential to join any team besides Ferrari, McLaren or BMW, Hecould get a test seat for 09 and maybe a race seat for 2010.

Rubens would probably retire from F1 and join a lower series or just retire from all motorsports all together

3rd highest paid, did that include the new 8 kEUR helmet for every race?

I think he's just as good as Lewis. As a driver that is. And surely a better person.

Good grief can we quit the crying about the Helmets...the point it's excessive has been made.

Write a letter to him if you feel that strongly.

I think Jenson is a decent driver and with the right car could easily win a WDC, but in equal cars I feel he'd be beaten and be a nearly man.

It's interesting that Honda have apologised to him directly. No mention of an apology to Reubens...

+1

While he can start looking for alternatives, there is still a possibility that the team will be at the start of the season with another name and owner. Honda must be willing to sell the team as a bargain, to at least get something from it as under the current conditions they can't expect to get much from it.

If a takeover happens, I think they will continue to run Button, with a youngster that brings some money aside of him. The team will now be in a completely different league and I presume that IF a takeover happens, they will join the standard Cosworth engine deal from the FIA.

I don't think that Cosworth will be in a position to supply in 2009. It was mentioned that Brawn has contacted Ferrari regarding 2009 engines.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

Rubens will probably take this as a point to retire.

That's what I believe will happen. The Honda team will be sold for pittance, and the new owners will sign up for Max's new plan of standardized Cosworth engines.
Does anyone know if Honda has Jenson under contract for '09? If so, then the new owners will be able to obtain his services.
Sadly, there are no options for Reubens, unless he can somehow secure huge sponsorship and bring bags of money to whatever remains of Honda.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

They can join the Acura LMP team. They are moving into P1 anyway right? And the races will be 20X more fun for them.

I'd personally like to see Honda F1 bought out by Renault: Brawn, Button, and Alonso in one team
