John Young Stewart actually never drove for the Italian team, so why not?

Remember when Mika was contemplating a come back, he was almost 2 seconds of the pace in testing!

Would be good to see Montoya in the car!

There are basicly 4 names which might take the place.

-> Bourdais: has some experience with the Ferrari engine

-> Rossi: had some tests with the Ferrari why not let him give it a try

-> Alonso: If he signed a contract for next year he could jump over

-> Villeneuve: As he is back next year he could get some race time now.

The testdrivers Badoer and Gene don't have a lot of race time on the machine this year due too the lack of testing. Maybe one of the two test drivers has a clause in his contract to take place if one drivers fails.

Loeb wants to go to F1 but he is linked to Red Bull so no go for him.

Now Alonso is not racing in Europe, I would love to see him behind the wheel of a Ferrari - but I think contracts, sponsors etc wouldnt allow him to hop from one bed to the other.

Has anyone actually confirmed if Massa will or will not be racing this year or next race?

Use some common sense! He's had brain surgery, we're unlikely see him racing again.

As I understand it, he had skull surgery, not brain surgery. Thankfully they are very different things.

I would hardly say he has had brain surgery! Hes had some work on his skull and a CT scan, its hardly brain surgery?

Why are we unlikly to see him racing again? Assuming he passes all the tests why not?

Just as likely to never race as being in the next race, which was the question asked.

Chances of this season is certainly zero. I'd wager never again.

I hope he gets fit enough to come back.

With a history of a fractured base of skull injury I hope he doesn't ... or we could have a ticking time bomb waiting for his next crash into a wall.

I have a funny feeling that because he was properly concussed he has to wait a certain time before he can even get in a car.

Does anyone know the time he has to wait.. or am i just making things up??

P.S i'd like to see Alonso in a ferrari!

Of course it depends on how bad the skull base fracture was and how bad the concussion was. As we have so little info at the moment I wouldn't even dare make a guess. I think he is as likely to be back in a couple of months as he is to never race again..

Could Alonso drive for Ferrari in Valencia?

Post

Seeing as Renault have been banned from competing in Valencia and Ferrari have a free seat, do you think we could see Alonso driving for them?

The chances are that he has already signed for them next year, the benefits for Ferrari would certainly outweigh the negatives ( getting valuable data about his driving style and feedback on the design to help him suit next years car vs him taking information back to Renault ). I could also see Flavio allowing him to do this as he would want to please him as he is his team boss and manager and I'm sure Fernando will be extremely upset with Renault if they make him miss his home GP. I'm sure a deal could be done in 4 weeks.
