He's right you can't compare Ferrari and Mercedes, because Mercedes invented the freaking automobile, and was already racing before Ferrari even existed.

Luca might not realize it, but talking about being cool, actually makes you quite uncool. You don't have to tell us Ferrari is the ---, they are Ferrari for Pete's sake. Is he trying to sell me a vacuum cleaner at my door? C'mon.

If I was Tifosi, I would be disillusioned that my old team core now runs the team he is slamming, and his god of a driver is now his competitor.

But no, there is no comparison right? Thank god this idiot is not the head of the FOTA dragon any more.

Thanks for reminding me how much I truly dispise this fool.
I must not be a true Tifosi because I'll be pulling hard for Mike!

Luca di Montezemolo wrote:I dream of a third Ferrari managed by an American team, with the stars and stripes flag.

Q: Would you reduce the F1 weekend to just two days Saturday and Sunday?

Certainly. As long as we go back to testing between races. We need tests to try out the car, to experiment, especially us since we transfer a lot to road cars.

And besides, we want to get back to using the Fiorano track, over which we have invested money: we are constructors, not people racing as a hobby.
Montezemolo would love to break the resource restriction agreement and finish the testing agreement to gain advantage for Ferrari. I hope that the other teams and the FiA will not allow that to happen. Luca is an arrogant prick who looks down on all other teams which have a lesser pedigree in F1. If Ferrari are as good as he thinks Ferrari should have no problem to take on the other teams with similar restrictions they face on resources. The Fiorano test track can be used for Ferrari road cars without limitations. That should be good enough to justify the investment.

Yet another Ferrari bashing session. Ho hum....

A third car would be good for the sport. Allow the teams to field a third car for a set number of races only with wild card drivers. That would be pretty good.

Yea

Wildcards..... really conjures up images of spectacularly fast Japanese that could decimate all up to lap 10.....whereupon they have an almighty crash.
Thanks for those memories Norifume Abe and Ukawa.

Not saying F1 would be the same but on four wheels it opens a rather large can of worms....
More could have been done.

It's fairly easy to do when Luca continues to talk crap about such things as 3rd cars etc.

Luca talks crap? Aye, good one. I wonder if he was in charge of another team if the reaction to his comments would be different?

Anyhoo, he is one of the most level headed principles involved in F1 and did excellent work in FOTA. For me he is one of the few trustworthy characters in the paddock. Darn site more trustworthy than Max Mosley, Bernie Ecclesstone, Ron Dennis, Flavio Briatore etc etc.

So Luca wants a 3rd car to be run by another team? An American team? What is that team supposed to do for its other car? Luca is dumber than dog ---.

Is there a rule about two race cars being mandatory? Or can a team run a single car?

That would be cool, just like a few decades ago where there would be single car entries from privateers.

Yes teams are required to run two cars for the entire season to be eligble for TV money.

Simple. The other team gets paid by Ferrari in lieu of TV money to run one of their cars. Sort of like having a hire car.

WTF is that meant to mean? Lack of an arguement so you laugh instead? :wtf:

Other than your strong dislike of Ferrari, is there any real reason you dislike this idea?

He told Max he would get letters of guarantee from all the big teams staying theey would not leave.

He couldn't get a single one. Not even his own Fiat.

Then he told them that he would get letters from the teams stating they would run third cars.

Nobody would give him those letters either.

He then bitched and moaned and the crew started to threaten with a breakaway series, that was never going to work. Max should know, he did start a breakaway series before when he was in the same position, and even ran a race. They even led FIA officials away from their first race at gunpoint. But he realized that they didn't have the tracks or the infrastructure or money or marshals to pull it off.

The guy speaks out of turn, and his comments alone were the reason that Max almost ran for another term. Telling the press they 'toppled the dictator' when all that was done was an agreement was reached to bring costs down to 1999 levels. He then had to apologize (to his credit) in the Italian media.

The LOL's are worthy I'm afraid gent.
