I like Vettel. I do not like RBR and their corporate approach to F1. To me this title is not about Vettel but about the RedBull story, and that's what makes it unpalatable.

I would have preferred Vettel winning the championship with some racing. He punted cars and wings this year like crazy, and the outright pace of the RB6 saved his title hopes. His pace when out in front was unquestionable. He decided to cut across Hamilton on lap 1, but got lucky this time as Lewis backed off.

At least Button's WDC had that excellent drive in Brazil. Felt like he had a quick car, but earned his title in a race that mattered.

Quite normal. Vettel's fan base is small and is going to grow now :)

corporate approach??? Huh?

Have you sen Ferrari or McLaren's corporate approach? RBR is much closer to being run as a sporting team with some corporate values than any of the other big players.
Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, now those are corporate animals.
Dragon fly, I agree Vettel has a small fan base. Most folk consider him to be the fast impetuous kid so don;t have much time for him.

I for one become a big fan when he wrestled a Torro Rosso through the rain in Monza to win his maiden GP. Echo's of one Herr Michael Schumacher.

I also love his approach to racing. He wants to win from the front and is not afraid to plant his cars nose in places where it probably shouldn't be, echoes of one Mr Aayrton Senna de Silva.

My gran says that you n man has honest eyes and an honest smile but she says that the Alonso chap looks very sly. Old ladies in particular are good at judging character. they can tell what you're thnking before you think it.

AS Hr Schumacher said it: He is a worthy champion from a driver talent, and human point of view."

On the contrary, I like the RBR "this is a sport not a bussiness" corporate approach. I like how Red Bull started sponsoring sports no one was 20 years ago (skate, snowboarding, etc..)

Horner said in Brasil that 5 years ago everybody thought RBR was a "party team" but now they won a title.

Well, I think that being a party team doesnt make you "less professional". Having fun while working hard is the best way to go.

Even on the internets the Vettel WDC threads are just small.. Even Buttons lame WDC got more excitement than this!
only this forum is not so excited
but rest of the forums people are super excited

I admit I would have preferred to see Webber win it but he simply lacked pace to do so and over the past few races drove with a desperation I didn't think he was capable of. The one thing I liked about Webber over the rest was his resolve. But that wasn't present in Korea or Abu Dabi. Such is life.

Having said all that I believe that Vettel had a turnaround year. He has matured quite a bit, and in no small part to Webber leaning on Vettel all season. I have to credit the Red Bull organization for that. In a typical driver 1-2 relationship Webber would not have gotten to show off his talents the way he did and Vettel wouldn't have been pushed into maturity so quickly.

It's entirely possible that we're seeing the next dominate driver decade, much like Schumi's. Vettel has the mettle to dominate and the team to give him that chance. All the more sad for Mark .. his chance has now come and gone.

i'm wondering one of the reason why people don't like him is because of what red bull did between him and webber(front wings fiasco at silverstone is one that i can remember)

I think part of it is because so far he has not had any memorable, epic performances. Yes, if he is in the fastest car and starts from the pole, he can win. But, he doesn't seem capable (yet?) to start from further back and win, even if he has the fastest car. Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton, Kimi have all done that.

I'm not bothered. Meh.

To be fair, I don't really care who wins and with that last race our little friend Seb did a good job.

He is not very personable IMO - He is 10 years younger than I am and so I hate his skill and obvious wealth..simple..lol!!

I'd kick his ass racing motorbikes though ;-)

Agree completely on the maturity bit (it's what I posted weeks ago)

However, I don't know if Vettel will have Schumi-type dominance. He is fast and deserves the title, but I'd like to have seen him do more racing. It's not his fault that he had those pole-to-flag wins, but I want to see him show the racing skill Schumi exhibited.

Fair enough, we see things pretty much the same. The one weakness of the RB6 (and the 5 too) is it's inability to dominate in traffic. It's what happens when you pair extensive aero with a weak motor, if you can call the Renault that. There really hasn't been too much passing, excluding the rain events, this year. The cars do seem to be able race closer, aero wise than they used to be able to but it seems the clean air gap is still a disappointing 1.5 seconds or so.

Seb could definitely use some more experience in this area but the car and the rules are just as large of a part of the problem.

The reason I and many others arent excited is because they dont like him. I had huge respect for him at the start of the season, but between the whole crashing into people when he tried to pass them and the favourtism (however true that was) made him look like the spoilt child whos parents see as an angel (Istanbul).

Im sure hes a nice guy, when everythings going good.
I have to say though I felt happy for him when I heard him after the race on the radio, but not excited,

I'm nutral towards Vettel.
But to be frank, it was destined that a redbull would win this year. Something would be wrong if it didn't.

Hamilton and Alonso would have to perfect to have won against the RedBull machine this year.
For Sure!!

I will easily admit that I'm a bit of a Vettel fan, and part of the "not-Alonso"-crew :D
But I think Vettel is still lacking in wheel-to-wheel racing. There have been stories of him being "taught" by Schumacher since he was small, maybe he should go karting and take lessons from Schumacher in the winter? :D
