If that is true McLaren offered Kimi relatively small salary because he got money from Ferrari I find such a behavior at least inappropriate. It’s like Schumi did not got any money from Ferrari in the past because he had personal sponsors. Kimi is one of the best drivers on the grid (even Whitmarsh admitted that), former world champion and thus his value is high, for me higher than 5 mln which appeared in the news. It is not McLaren business how much Kimi would get from Ferrari, if they want his services they have to pay fair price.sunny1304 wrote:am a huge kimi fan, but now a days it looks like kimi is more interested in money than racing....he behaves like a businessman, not as a racing driver.
I can not agree with Kimi being lazy in the second part of 2008. He was pushing up to the point where there was a chance to get a title (I think Spa was a good example, battle between him and Lewis was on of the brightest moments of the season.). He made mistakes but when you are on the edge they are almost unavoidable. After few races with low scores, not always due his faults (France – broken exhaust, UK – wrong tire choice, Canada – Lewis parking his car in the back of Kimi’s Ferrari...) he had no choice but to push. Once his chances for a crown evaporated he was driving for the team. It may not look very impressive but at least it helped Ferrari to score constructors’ championship and Felippe being very close to become a world champion.
