Vodafone McLaren MP4-27 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I thought low nose was a given around here.
Why?
Because of Button's problems in Spain
I thought maybe because of front downforce? Lownose with snowplow (was it raced or entirely dropped the sp?) I would select. :D
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Front downforce is easier to find, and is "cheaper" in terms of drag. Easier to add rear df and then dial the front in through setup

Is that the same front wing? Looks like the cascades connect to the side pieces like the Lotus/Renault car.

The snowplough was dropped before pre season testing was even completed and hasn't been raced this year.

What have Button's problems got to do with things? Lewis seemed to have no such issues, especially when setting a pole lap over 0.5secs quicker than anything else.

Still appears to have quite a few more threads than the Ferrari. The image isn't quite detailed enough to know for sure though...

They need to change all 4 wheels.

Then they're up the proverbial creek without a paddle, because the nut is embedded in the wheel they can't just swap the nut, they'll have to get a full new set of wheels and tires because you cant mix.

I think it's still possible, Ted Kravitz mentioned it after the bahrain fiasco.
