I believe Sky may already have had some sort of influence on Red Bull and Ferrari being forced to take part yesterday due to television coverage. It would hardly bode well for Sky to cover their first day of testing and have two of the biggest teams not taking part. This time next year we could well be watching all of the cars having to do mandatory same fuel, same tyre qualifying runs on a Friday afternoon or something as equally entertaining.

It would certainly boost viewers which is basically what it all boils down to.
Speculative nonsense - none of this is based on fact.
Yer.

The tires are either falling off quickly or he is trying to nurse them to see how long they will last on a nursing pace as opposed to wringing every drop out of them every lap which may cause the tires to degrade more quickly.

It would have been OK if he stayed on 1.25 range, but then he did 1.26.6, 1'26.8 1'27.2 and 1'26.6. Not great.

Looks like Grosjean and maybe Alonso are on race sim now...

It seems the "unmarked" tyers are back. Hamilton is running a set now.
Probably a new batch for today to be tested for Pirelli

Note that the unmarked tyers are from another "unknown" tyer factory that Pirelli use in case of disaster. A DRP if you like :)

The only downside is that now it's even more difficult to read into the lap-times as we now don't even know the compound .

Nice mix for extreme speculation :)

Anybody have some news about Torro Rosso ?
I know there was smoke around the engine during Vergne's last stint but it seems he can't come back on track.
Have they found the problem ? Was it an engine failure ?

you wont just drop a whole 1 second in one lap
its either he just dropped his pace to see how the tyres behave or he is just sandbaging

+1

That kind of degradation is not feasable .. Even if MR.S is repeating himself a thousand times over and over again :)

The Lotus appears quicker than Ferrari.

And I agree with you blokkie, that level of tire degradation over one lap may not be within reasononable expectations. This is testing so I'm sure they are testing different suspension settings on different loads with the tires to decide a happy median for race setup. You obviously don't want the car very quick with one fuel load yet dead at another. A balance between tire wear, loads, and performance must be found

ferrari is quicker. first stint, Alonso was on medium while Grosjean was on soft.

Good comparaison, because they are both doing race sims at almost the same time. Tough to say, though for the moment.
Grosjean first stint was a bit quicker, Fernando is now lapping faster after his first stop.
